we have to accept that some people will die and get on with life (as we do for flu, cars, airplanes etc.)
I really don't see any alternative if we want anything like our previous standard of living. We can't just all lockdown all the time.

I say this as someone with people in their family who's lives are drastiacally affected as they have to be extremely careful.

    but what choice is there?

This means a return to near normality for housing and stock markets.

Why were my post and someone else's randomly removed from this thread in the last hour?

Pretty rubbish moderating to just remove posts and not even say anything about it.

Probably because they were considered off topic, although the economy and factors that are likely to affect it now and in the immediate future are things I would think about very carefully myself before deciding to take on extra debt, such as when purchasing a house.

That doesn't explain why data published by the government caused such consternation, but no matter, the point I would have gone on to make is that sitting tight might be the best thing to do right now, rather than join in the bun-fight that's been the property market recently. The other poster was bigging-up the economy without reflecting on the fact that much of the money sloshing about has been borrowed, not earned, and there will come a time of reckoning.
One may be supportive by urging caution.

I think the issue was you were scaremongering with the death data for the delta variant claims.

Can the buyer's solicitor really ask why I'm selling my house? Isn't that a VERY personal question?

Presumably they didn't ask you they asked your solicitor and you can instruct your solicitor how to answer. I don't think it's that personal but I don't see how it's relevant to the conveyancing. Perhaps they are trying to find out how motivated you are to move.

The solicitor asked the buyer to ask me... My solicitor advised against instructing them until I have a chain.

So my buyer asked me directly, as we have open communication between us.

    Here's the verbatim:

Why are they selling? They only got this property last year. The property has been sold several times, which makes me curious.

I do find it a bit odd but have never sold privately.
I have bought 5 houses over the years and  have asked each seller why they were moving.

I have also been asked wy I am moving.

What is the problem unless there is reason you do not want them to know, like horrible neighbours

issues with neighbours can't always be hushed up.
I can't remember the name of the form but you have to declare any known issues when asked about them and could get sued later on if someone would not have bought the property had they known (and they can prove you knew about the issue).
