Marcus release app for IOS

I have just received an email from Marcus advising that they have released an app, currently only available for IOS but soon to be available for Android. I have just downloaded it and it appears to do what a banking app should.
Let us hope that they soon bump the rate up to make it worthwhile. It is though, the best savings account with a decent rate, for very fast faster payments.

Thanks for the heads up. I’ve recently starting using Marcus again, but as an Android user I will wait to see the Android app release."If you aren’t willing to own a stock for ten years, don’t even think about owning it for ten minutes” Warren Buffett

I currently just use a shortcut to the main webpage. How will an app be better?, other than taking up more memory space on my phone!?! It's not as though you need to do complex banking transactions on it. It's basically only either requesting a withdrawal or checking balance/interest.How's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 2.60% of current retirement "pot" (as at end May 2025)5

Yet another app that is just a thin veneer over a web site!I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Credit Cards, Savings & investments, and Budgeting & Bank Accounts boards. It's basically only either requesting a withdrawal or checking balance/interest.I'll be sticking to visiting the website via my phone. For a savings account, where the most sensitive thing you are likely to do is withdraw funds to a single linked account in your name, the only advantage an app could really provide is the convenience of biometric login.I always use apps for my current accounts, as there is a clear advantage with respect to security there due to the higher risk actions that can be taken.3

Some people, incl myself, prefer apps to online banking. For example, there is better security and faster login, enabled by biometrics. You also have more flexibility with where you can access your accounts as a phone or tablet is more portable than a laptop, and definitely more portable than a desktop. The transactions in a well designed app will be generally be easier to use than an online one, and some functionality will only be available in apps - e.g. biometric approval of transactions. Apps are the way to go IMO. Having said this, for a variety of reasons some people will never use apps for banking, and that is their choice to make.Sea_Shell said:I currently just use a shortcut to the main webpage. I'm not against banking apps at all. I have them for my main current accounts and they work well.colsten said:

But for a linked savings account, that hardly needs any interaction, what is the real benefit of this particular app?
You still need an internet connection on your phone to use it, app or web. How's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 2.60% of current retirement "pot" (as at end May 2025)2 -
Believe it or not, there are more and more people who don't even have / want, or cannot afford, a laptop or desktop. Companies like Goldman Sachs are well aware that they need to cater for this growing customer/prospect base.0

Some of my friends, whom have decent full time jobs don’t have their own laptop (so it’s out of choice) and do their personal finances via their own smartphone. As you point out, I’m sure there are many others.colsten said:Believe it or not, there are more and more people who don't even have / want, or cannot afford, a laptop or desktop. I too will be waiting for Android. It's release was due this month, with iOS last month, so maybe some time in next 4-6 weeks it may appear.RG2015 said:I have just received an email from Marcus advising that they have released an app, currently only available for IOS but soon to be available for Android. Atom Bank's Instant Saver is better at 0.50% and instant faster payments in my experience. Way quicker than Marcus.
But then, when I used Marcus, we were only talking a ten minute wait normally, so not life changing between them really. Just not the best atm.0 -
Apart from the very early days, I always found Marcus transfers taking seconds to appear in my linked account. I did one on the Marcus app last night and it was visible in my NatWest app instantly.wiseonesomeofthetime said:
