Same here, stupid widgets they like to add. How many users keep the junk they keep pushing?
For me the more junk they push the more I find on how to totally remove other features they would
    rather we did not remove.
Why is there not a simple (would you to try our latest new feature), bonus is that they may have to actually
make their addons decent for people to click yes lets try it.

  • Having given at least 2 hours of my life to resolving the issues caused by this update, it is perversely reassuring to know I'm not the only one!. Problems following Patch Tuesday now seem to be a fairly regular occurence and maybe it's now time to consider pausing updates prior to the next due date in the hope that workarounds become common knowledge just in case they are required.

The update with the News and Interests addition has just been applied to my laptop ... no issues noticeable so far. :)

Me - I really like the new weather in the task bar and the quick news preview and love the experience of new features - in fact I'm on the insider releases so have had this feature for a long time and totally happy with it.

It is not junk for everyone, for many like me, it improves the experience and the information at my fingertips.

You can install the Windows 10 LTSC version to avoid all the extras, we use it on our work virtual desktops as we don't need all the "junk" running on work machines. You will get a totally clean experience without having to switch things off. You just get monthly security updates, the twice yearly updates are every 2-3 years instead.

You can get a copy of a re-cycled licence key for LTSC for as little as £15 and you can move into a world of minimal features, really useful if your PC's is older or slower or you just do want all the fancy extras.

Or why not just use Linux and a distro with a lightweight interface if you really are against the junk the Microsoft add to Win 10?

Pardon me but if it takes two hours of your time to fix the "issues" from this update, something is very seriously wrong somewhere.  And just because you have issues after Patchc Tuesday doesn't mean everybody else does.

Oh dear. Do you have a problem?
This thread has been interspersed with understanding to my initial question and humour, yet you seem to have an issue with my initial question!
You might wish to provide readers with an explananation of what Patchc Tuesday is all about.
Did I ever say that everybody else had an issue?
I think I will be blocking your posts in future - as to put it kindly you seem to have some sort of odd reaction to well meaning and genuine posts.

Getting random taskbar refreshes. Blanks out when switching between different browser windows. Happens for a few
seconds at a time and then its OK for a while.

Switched it on today to find the Opera browser icon in the systray? Not used that for weeks. No updates on Opera either.
