I regularly buy certain items from the supermarket [tinned tomatoes, tuna etc etc] and tinned peaches are one of them but other than just eating them with evaporated milk thought I'd share a couple of different ways I've tried using them recently:
1. Put them in orange jelly for my son's birthday tea on holiday [makes a very good hol pud as you can transport all the bits easily] which an idea I'd pinched off the board
2. Put them on a pizza with ham. I'd actually forgotten to buy pineapple and so substituted instead. Husband gave me a rather old fashioned look but they tasted really nice.
3.Made peach daiquiri ice which is a slimmers pud but is actually very refreshing on a summer's day
450g can tinned peaches
4tbsp caster sugar
2 tbsp rum
1/4 tsp lime zest
2 tbsp lime juice
Drain peaches and reserve juice. Place peaches, sugar, rum, lime zest and juice with 2 tbsp of the peach juice in a processor and blend until smooth. Pour mixture into 8" loaf tin and freeze.
If this should appear in the recipe thread please could someone very kind put it there for me because I am utterly clueless!
Wondered if anyone else had any other ideas?
Regards

I'll do it over the weekend when I do some indexing.

When being really good diet-wise, I sometimes freeze them (not in the juice) and then when frozen blitz them in the food processor and voila.......instant and very healthy peach sorbet! You can add a little fizzy lemonade when blitzing them if you want more of a hot day mushy peach ice. Trust me, it works!
It also works with fresh peaches (I used to live in the US where we had a glut in summer) which are lovely with leftover (yeah right lol) champagne.0 -

When you've blitzed your frozen peaches, can you return them to the freezer so you've got your 'sorbet' to hand. I should think this would be feasible, but just wondered if you'd done it?0

Tuna and peach sandwiches mmmmmmmmmmmmm
Hubby bought me some a few years ago, they are sold in the local shops in Aberdeen, I'd never tried it before and thought it sounded disgusting but now I'm a convert. It's just tuna in mayonaise with chunks of tinned peaches0 -
Great ideas. I read somewhere that fresh peaches go very well with basil and yogurt. Haven't tried it myself. My parents also make a delicious alcholic drink with oj mixed with Archers [or OB equivalent] called a fuzzy navel. Not very money saving I know but there you go!

In England we have Mothering Sunday & Father Christmas, Mothers day & Santa Clause are American merchandising tricks:mad: Demonstrate pride in your heirtage by getting it right please people!0 -
Ticklemouse, yes you can put the sorbet back into the freezer after blitzing. It's really handy to have on hand. I've given it to children who swear blind they don't eat fruit lol.
Also if you add a squirt of fresh lemon juice to the canned peaches they seem to taste less 'canned'.0
