  • Electricity = £0.127 => 7100 * £0.127 = £901.70
    Standing Charges = £6.07 * 12 = £72.84 (19.95p * 365 / 12)
    VAT on £901.70 = £45.05
    Total Electricity = £901.70 + £72.84 + £45.05 = £1019.59
    Using the same principle for Gas is
    Total Gas = £426.01 + £72.84 + £21.30 = £520.15
    This gives me £1019.59 + £520.15 = £1539.74 for the year or £128.32pm
    Hi,
    you have omitted the VAT on standing charge on both, still doesn't account for difference.

    I wasn't sure about that, if it's a service then there is no tax, didn't think it would be the 5% fuel rate but could be standard 20%.

    In the end i decided that my other bills didn't show vat against it so guessed, perhaps wrongly, it was 0% vat.

    Hi,
    on most bills it is added individually to gas/electric usage and vat calculated on that.
    Have a look at previous bills and you will see what I mean.

    VAT on domestic energy bills is 5%, except for leaving fees which are taxed at 20%.
