I'm eager to find a suitable Toshiba replacement for my present Toshiba Satellite L830. Over the years it has had several repairs including an SSD and is now increasingly unreliable as well as the screen freezing.
I would be grateful for advice to find a suitable Toshiba (bit of a dinosaur, in my 70's now and feel comfortable with what I know!) and, although limiting, I am keen to have a more up to date Toshiba replacement.
13" screen would be fine again but not essential, nothing 'fancy' as touchscreen not needed - I prefer to use a mouse. I use mostly for browsing, YouTube, emails, on line banking and Microsoft Word and Excel quite a lot. I would love a Toshiba replacement to be as fast as reasonable in my budget of about £450. During lockdown I have been using YouTube and things on line more often.
For me (new or used) this 'investment' will hopefully last a long time as I don't really need to keep pace with advanced technology. Any help at all will be really appreciated as I find the choices on 'Google' a bit overwhelming.
Thank you very much for any help.

Thank you very much for replying. I had a Dell laptop in the past and could not get used to it at all. After persevering for some time I managed to buy my (then - although some time ago) replacement Toshiba. I gave the Dell to a charity who were very pleased to have it and it worked well for them.I really must be a real dinosaur because, after many years of 'happy' TV viewing my TV eventually broke down. I was persuaded to buy another 'brand' and could not get to grips with it at all. As soon as I was able to I bought a replacement (different model but same brand as my 'original one) and was happy with it - thankfully it is still going strong today. I gave the other one (the 'different' brand) to a friend who had no working TV and they were delighted with it.)It must just 'be me' but I seem to cope better with familiar brands. I really am very eager to 'stick' with Toshiba as a replacement. I'm not unappreciative of your kind suggestions and hope you understand, thank you very much.Retired_Saver0

I did not know that Toshiba had stopped making laptops and now transferred to Sharp. Maybe, because I am happy to buy a 'good' used Toshiba one, it will be possible for someone (very kindly and much appreciated, please) to recommend a suitable one for me - the best I can afford and hope it will last a long time. Thank you again for the helpful and interesting link.

When my first Toshiba Windows 7 'died' and my current Windows 8 one' arrived I struggled for quite a while. Eventually, with help, Classic Shell made a difference. Some people (like me) really are slow to learn. I have to say that this site is fantastic at helping and is so much appreciated, thank you.I have looked at the link again, thank you OnlyTheBestWillDo, and wonder if 'Dynabook' (Sharp) would be as close as possible to Toshiba - although, as newer, they may be beyond my budget.

So don't obsess about the brand and concentrate on what you current laptop offers that the others do not.
We already noted your eagerness by the amount of times you mentioned Toshiba in your first post.
Would have been better to include the full model number(in your case the Part. No. on the underside of the laptop) rather than just repeat the same thing to no avail. That way we know what you already have.
Remeber that if you order online, you can send it back if you cannot get to grips with it.

Sorry, OnlyTheBestWillDo - don't mean to be a pest. I can't remember the SSD added later but it is Sat L830-16W and the Park Number is P8KF2E-01U00FEN.I'm not sure what the closest most suitable up to date version would be - or if it would be in my price range, thank you.0
