Received mine as well this morning.
A big thankyou to OP and a well deserved pat on the back to amazon for honoring the the code.

If only other companies to a leaf out of their book cough dunn elm cough

I second that. Mine arrived today also. It takes the same aqua optia cartridges that the original Russel Hobbs took. The cartridges are a better price in Amazon than the cartridges in my old one. I am delighted. Thanks again for this original post. (And to the Daily Mail and Amazon):T :T :T :T

My jug turned up today as well. It is not a Russell Hobbs, but a Spanish make of some sort. Looks like it only takes special cartridges, not the cheap generic ones you can buy, so will have to shop around for a good deal (RRP is £4.99 each!).

    Update:

So far amazon have best deal I can see with 6 x double life cartridges at £21.99 delivered.
    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Aqua-Optima-DOUBLE-Filter-Cartridge/dp/B000V9D71O

With each cartridge lasting 60 days that would be 1 year's supply. Can't see anything cheaper at the moment, so might go for this, unless someone else knows of a better deal!

Would be £19.99 for 6 double life cartridges in Argos as they are £9.99 for 2 but are on 3 for 2.

for people who have received the jata jug alternative to the russel hobbs has anyone else found that the lid is very loose and does not clip into place -

when i pour the water the lid falls out and for some reason wont clip into place

Mine doesn't clip in very well either. Its OK as long as you don't tip it too far whilst pouring.

  • Cat amongst the pidgeons but here I go!!

I'm not happy with mine, I know its a freebie but its a very cheap alternative, very big IMO and the lid simply falls off. I have contacted amazon and asked for an alternative that matches the quality of the Russell Hobbs one. The person on the phone said we will refund if you send it back. I said I had a voucher that paid for it and he said it would be credited back to my account. Forgot that this jug was from a Daily Mail promotion so will probably not apply in this case. I feel awful complaining but am disappointed with this (especially as I hauled my 8 months pregnant bod down to the sorting office as I wasnt in when the postie came!)
  • Amazon - What have you done to your reputation, sending these cheap rubbish alternatives but of course you conviently ran out of £15 ones my local price buster shop sells these for £3.99 with a filter.

Yep same here, Amazon have shot themselves in the foot with this one. We should all send them back as they are clearly faulty.

    Have you read the instructions?

"For the first use of the timer maintain pressed the reset button during 5 seconds and release"

My button was hard to press, but I did it eventually.

    recieved mine today
very pleased it was a freebie so what if they sell for £3 elsewhere it was free and Amazon honoured their promise and sent a fridge door filter jug.
Many thanks to the OP and Amazon for honouring the offer
