Covid was invented for people like you, I bet you're one of those still preetching about staying home.Mnoee said:
Just read like a moan to me, what with your talk of 'trendy city hipsters' and how 'everyone wants to use contactless for every card transaction'. (It's because there's a pandemic, no-one wants to die.)Deleted_User said:

Your complaining about the fact that we can pay without touching a pin pad that's been used by hundreds of people a day during a pandemic? I mean, I've heard everything now.Deleted_User said:When contactless was first dreamt up it was meant for micro payments only to allow trendy city hipsters to get their coffee on the way to office, with all payments stored up and polled together at night. Instead, every transaction is now authorised on the spot and everyone has to wait while this happened. Also everyone wants to use contactless for every card transaction.
I love contactless payments and I love paying with card in general. One good thing about covid is more and more smaller retailers are now welcoming card payments where before they used to shun them.1 -
The joys of dealing with the public.
I used to be a people person until I got a job where I dealt with the public.
People are <insert unpleasantries here>. Animals are much better.3 -
Same here and it's why I got out of retail as the general public get worse year on year. Then again the OP expects the general public to know the ins and outs of how every retailer's EPOS system works.JustAnotherSaver said:The joys of dealing with the public.

Perhaps use the sounds from the Family Fortunes answer board (apparently called Mr. Babbage).AstonSmith said:..The sounds louder and more memorable...2 -
You think covid was 'invented'?! Love to hear more about that, along with what sort of person I am.Deleted_User said:

'Preaching' is the word you're looking for. How much are you betting, and with whom?

The fact you even mentioned covid gave the game away. As long as you regularly wash and sanitise your hands before you start licking your fingers you shouldn't have any problems touching the buttons on the card reader.Mnoee said:

I BET you are one of those folk who sanitise their hands using the supplied sanitiser on entering a supermarket and THEN pick up a wipe to wipe the trolley handle too. Doh!0 -
Nah, I'm clinically extremely vulnerable to covid and too disabled to go to a supermarket on a bad day whether there's a pandemic or not. That's why I post about home deliveries on the supermarket section quite frequently. I accept PayPal.Deleted_User said:

Ah that makes sense, although I've already swiped clubcard, and it doesn't happen on standard checkoutseastcorkram said:
If you're using a Tesco card, that first beep is just to register the club card. The second one is to pay.ZeroSum said:Tesco's card only machines dont work
It asks for card, beeps then nothing.
You have to tap a 2nd time before it goes through. It's so annoying0 -
I recently bought £17 worth of bits and pieces from a local farm shop and when I got home and looked at my online bank account I could see the transaction had been declined. I waited to see if it righted itself, but as expected it didn't. A few days later I called in and told them what had happened and successfully repeated the transaction. I was told the young lad who had served me had had the money deducted from his wages. I am so pleased I did the right thing. £17 is a lot to a 17 year old!9

Considering you were just whining about how awful the general public are, you're an incredibly unpleasant person yourself...Deleted_User said:
