My wife has a Zoe so not an issue.
    Nice, which one?
Zoe was the first EV I drove, loaned one by a dealer when our (then) Captur was in for a service.
    Loved EVs since.
We are actually on our second now, first was a 40kwh 19 plate. We've just upgraded to a new E Tech model this year, that's got a 52Kwh battery. It's my wife's car but I love driving it! We've got a very big Renault garage on our doorstep, managed to get 2 good deals. Sold our first Zoe for a very good price. We can use the rapid charger at Renault for nothing!
I've kinda lost track with the Zoe's, but are Renault doing rapid ports on them all now?
IIRC it used to be you had to pay extra for a Chademo port?
I also think they've dropped the battery rental thing?
    Dropped battery rental.

Still come with 22kW AC charging but you can now opt for an optional 50kW CCS.

Front charging ports encourage poor parking practices. Charging ports should either be on the back or preferably somewhere on the side of the rear quarter/wing which is much more adaptable to different parking situations.
    Genuinely curious about this.
I've actually seen a pedestrian walk between 2 x electric cars in a car park, not noticing the side charge point in a BMW i3 and giving it a hefty whack.
Now, on that occasion, no damage was done.
But if it had, who would you (if you were the owner of the i3) hold liable for a potentially very expensive repair (not to mention you might not get home because the charging has stopped).
The likelihood of this happening is far less with a front or rear charge point, you just wouldn't get many/any people walking between the charger and the front/rear of the car.
So it's a pedestrian issue, not ICE owners and the placing of the port. Front, back or side they all stick out the same amount.
If you are walking and can't see a (as you put it) how far a charging handle can stick out. Perhaps they should put up barriers round these charging ports to stop pedestrian access.
I would think that a hefty whack on the leg would hurt a lot & most likely cause the person to end up on the floor in a heap. If that is all it takes to break one, then that is a safety & design flaw.

Seems most people are wrong & a charging cable is not a badge of honor 😂

I don't know of any EVs with charge ports on the rear.

    Tesla for certain Model 3
New Kia EV6, Hyundai IONIQ 5
    Hyundai Ioniq (rear quarter panel)

I’ve got three (possibly completely daft theories):
1, Frunks/Froots, a side charging port allows for this extra storage space (even if it isn’t useful it looks better on a spec sheet)
2, ICE Platforms, shoving batteries into an ICE platform means that the fuel filler cap needs a use
3, Maybe ‘premium’ manufacturers come up with their own port positioning for ‘individuality’ and ‘cheaper’ manufacturers just use side ports for ease (I think of the VW Group’s EVs here)

I find it strange that someone can "hate" where the charging ports are placed on electric cars.

Quite happy with my pathetic ICE thanks that can do 500+miles on a single refuel and can then do another 500 if required with a quick 5min refuel ad infinitum

using language like that isnt likely to endear people to your crusade or point of view
It was meant as written, against ICE owners that crave familiarity so badly it would make them feel better to have a side port.
    IMO that's a bit pathetic.

What evidence do you have that ICE owners "crave familiarity" so badly?
I seriously doubt if anyone really cares as much as you seem to and I'd suggest your ire would be better directed at the marketing departments of EV manufacturers.

By the same logic would wanting a front port rather than a side port (just because that's what your EVs used to have) not make EV drivers pathetic as well  I guess all drivers are pathetic then.

    Evidence?
    None.
I was hypothesising as there doesn't seem to be any practical reason for it.
