Sorry to cause offense by not naming the oven. No secret, its a Lamona (LAM3409) built-in single fan oven.
You didn't cause offence. No apology needed.

Sounds like you need the engineer again.  So back to my post above ^^
He tried to say the first time it was the lack of ventilation behind the oven (its an adjoining wall to next door so not sure how you would create more ventilation). The builder who did the kitchen said that was nonsense as it also vents from the front. Its frustrating when they clearly don't know what is causing it.

How long did it take the new one to start playing up?

It's interesting that Howdens seem to have erased this model from their site even though there are plenty of other Lamona ovens listed, and with documents to download

Not long, within a couple of weeks I think. It doesn't do it every single time. I cooked a roast today and it was fine. I used my grill for 5 minutes the other day and it went off. There is no rhyme or reason to it at all.
  • Nothing to say it isn't the oven.  It's more likely to be the oven than a faulty connection.  How long ago did you purchase the oven and when was the original fault reported?
First oven was purchased last October and fault was reported after a couple of months. I thought it was something I was doing before that so just kept re-setting it. Engineer changed a part and 'reset' but it still did it (only sometimes, not with every use) so they replaced the oven a couple of months ago. After using for a couple of weeks, it did it again.
Was the engineer able to replicate the fault when they inspected it, or was the oven replaced based on your reports that it continued to happen? I wouldn’t have any hesitation about calling the engineering back again, but especially if the engineer was able to replicate it, as that shows it’s a fault with the oven and not user error.

Does it seem temperature related -- e.g. lower temperature roast, OK.  High temperature grill, not OK?

No, he tried to say I must have set a timer!! (which is impossible by the way). He clearly hadn't a clue why it was doing it and couldn't replicate the fault because it was so intermittent anyway. He claimed it was lack of ventilation and then replaced the timer. Obviously that did not work so they agreed to just replace the oven

No because it has done it when the oven is on too. There doesn't appear to be any pattern to it.

Has your total ownership of the two ovens exceeded the single warranty timescale yet?  If not, it sounds like you have good cause to demand .. something.  Perhaps ask a board guide to move this thread to Consumer Rights board once you have exhausted the technical possibilities here.

I guess the cabinet wall is behind, not the building wall.
The manual (p.19) says that 3mm gap is sufficient, but the cabinet shelf has to have at least 150cm2 ventilation gap/cutout behind for air coming in, does it?

Obviously I can't say for sure but there was definitely a gap behind it, whether its the right size I don't know. If that is the cause, the engineer should have insisted that be fixed. The builder had it out with the depot and the agreed that wasn't the issue. I'm going to ring the depot myself tomorrow and tell them I want a different oven installed.
