IB ESA threshold

Hi can anyone tell me what the threshold for me earning is, my partner is on IB ESA? Do they take into account wages only or include CTC/WTC/CB as an income also? Thanks in advance

If your partners ESA is all Income Related then you will be able to earn £20 per week and anything over this will reduce your partners ESA £1 for £1. If part of the ESA is contributions based (£114.10 per week) then they will keep all of that because earnings from you do not affect CB ESA.Seems like from a previous thread of yours that your partner is claiming Contributions based ESA and not income related. https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6165141/part-time-employed-part-time-self-employed-can-i-apply-for-wtc/p2

CTC and CB is ignored as income for income based ESA. I think WTC is included as income but I recall there is some overlappng entitlement rules about income based ESA and WTC but unfortunately I can’t r3call the details at the moment.Information I post is for England unless otherwise stated. Some rules may be different in other parts of UK.0

It's all been a nightmare to be honest part of his claim was contribution and part was income previously, but now its income related only. I am telephoning Dwp and Hmrc again in the morning but wanted to be clear on what my threshold should be. It would be easier if they could tap into the one system nd it all tallies up without me having to go through the same old thing time and again...... Hopes for lottery win so can be done with it all0

The bit I couldn’t remember last night was referenced by ice queen in your other thread

Income related ESA passports you to maximum tax credits, but can end up in a constant circularity because WTC is then taken into account for ESA.I have never ever discovered how this conundrum is resolved in practice.

If it's income related then the £20 per week earnings rule i mentioned above will apply so if you've been working and earning more than this then there will be an overpayment of ESA.

Yeah it was contributory with income based added on, and then it was income based only. Now we received a letter and they are saying hes not entitled to get anything because of my income, and there are over payments to pay back. I called CAB yesterday afternoon who said I need to call Dwp and then I've to give them a call back0

In your previous thread you were advised to ring DWP to check exactly what his ESA claim is, did your partner do this?

Yes and that's when we were informed it was CB and element of IB.0
