Thanks everyone for your advise. I’m definitely going to get my mum to change her contact. I’m also gonna see if they can do anything with the bill although I’m not holding my breath.

If she doesn't use data then you can get unlimited calls and text with Sky Mobile for £1.50 a month and it even comes with a free phone!.
