I agree. It's like when people talk about EVs - short range, can't have the heating on, they catch fire, batteries are knackered after a few years, public chargers never work and actually they're more polluting anyway.  Better to ask people with experience rather than rely on opinions via the Daily Mail

It would be wise to listen to both sides - not just those trying to convince themselves they haven't wasted their money chasing a dream.

Better still, lets pay attention to all comments without recourse to prejudicial and emotive statements.  If I end up paying more to run my ASHP than I did to run my oil boiler I'll let people know.  Since I have only had the ASHP for 6 months it's too early to say but it looks as if it will be quite close either way.

You mean 'prejudicial and emotive' comments like: "Even at a SPF of 2.5 you are still doing your bit to save the planet..."? ..

TBH the planet will still be here whene we are all dead and gone - what people really mean when they squeak on about saving the planet is saving us. Have a llok at what George Carlin said - this is a small part of it
    "

The planet has been through a lot worse than us. Been through earthquakes, volcanoes, plate tectonics, continental drift, solar flares, sun spots, magnetic storms, the magnetic reversal of the poles … hundreds of thousands of years of bombardment by comets and asteroids and meteors, worldwide floods, tidal waves, worldwide fires, erosion, cosmic rays, recurring ice ages … And we think some plastic bags and some aluminum cans are going to make a difference? The planet isn’t going anywhere. WE are!

Never under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers

I do and I have.  The dream I am chasing is cheaper heating and I think it's going to come true for me.

What's your solution to reducing C02 emissions?  Or are you a denier?

'A denier'. Wasn't someone complaining about emotive and prejudicial terminology a little earlier?
