One of the contributers to this site has experience with Samsung where his freezer repeatedly defrosted, even after fixing/replacing. Eventually took them to court (AFAIR).
@Chickereeeee Can you remember, within a year  or so, when the thread was.
I am pretty sure it was within the last 12 months.

    Here it is:

"Got court papers" and they seem to have crumbled.

Thank you, interesting reading.  I did look at Liebherr but when you check trustpilot, loads of negative reviews on failures and difficulty getting repairs done (lack of engineers).  I guess if AEG has fairly recently been taken over by Electrolux (certainly on same website now when i was trying to get it repaired under warranty), perhaps that explains the 'new' fan design that my engineer said he'd not seen in an AEG before.

It does look like being frost free makes all freezers a bit more prone to break downs.  So hoping the Haier one I am asking for will alarm when/if this happens. The AEG one alarmed if door left open but not simply on internal temperature rise.  That's why it went into total defrost twice, I didn't realise. lol, As i said, its working perfectly now its almost empty.., but that's not quite what I need.

Hearing these bad experiences, I wonder if light-duty commercial might be a good option.  Nisbets have an undercounter fridge and freezer made by respected brand Polar that would come in at £830 with VAT:

Minimal bells and whistles, but the spares like door seals are stocked

Needed tall freezer because of lack of floor space, but might be an idea for some. The upright freezers are a bit beyond my budget unfortunately.
