As much as I like cars and motorbikes, what an absolutely ridiculous and childish thing to say will be missed in the future.
For every driver/rider 'enjoying' the sound of their vehicle, there's 10 people they're passing who think they're a bell-end.
I cannot WAIT until engine noise is a thing of past.
I think it's rather sad that people will miss out. There are already plenty the lament the demise of a V12 F1 engine and the intense scream of a 500GP engine and miss all the "bell ends" that drove and rode them. That's why events like Goodwood are so popular.
No more cross plane crank V8 burble? No more engine sound? What are we left with?
We have senses, one of them is hearing and people will fill those senses with something, if it's not the sound of petrol exploding, it's going to to be filled with something far worse. 2000w subwoofers and plenty of drum n bass!

Well, for me, lockdown has meant the sounds of road and plane noise has been filled with the sound of birds tweeting, squirrels scurrying and foxes squealing. Two out of three not bad for being pleasant.Goudy said:We have senses, one of them is hearing and people will fill those senses with something, if it's not the sound of petrol exploding, it's going to to be filled with something far worse. 2000w subwoofers and plenty of drum n bass!
Also, more recently, some continuous electrical hum - very annoying.0 -
I'm sure events like Goodwood will still go ahead, I'm not talking about 'banning' noise at racetracks, but day to day engine noise can beggar off any time it likes.Goudy said:BOWFER said:Engine noise...you've got me started now (excuse the pun)

Down my street I've got a 69 Chevy something or other, a 71 Mustang, a Maserati quattroporte and an M4 to name a few.
All engine noises people will love, but it gets tiring when they drive by all the time....
And with regard to racetracks, electric cars/bikes will be their saviour as it means they will be able to operate all day every day, many of them have strict opening times because of noise right now.0 -
On my street this week a Porsche 911 owner has moved in, I’m the only one in the house enjoying the noise. I only think a car lovers will miss the noise - everyone just sees it as an inconvenience they will be pleased to see the back of.BOWFER said:
