Hi Dandytf,
I hope your well, I do remember, commenting on some of your posts, back in your DMP days.
One line from your recent posting worries me though -
"Certainly enjoying being approved for these products".
It suggests to me, and other`s it seems, that you are seemingly addicted to applying for credit, more or less for the buzz of being accepted, now after so long in debt management, in some ways that is understandable, but you need to take a reality check, otherwise you will end up back in financial trouble again.
I`m not going to preach to you about how badly this could turn out, I'm sure deep down you already know this.
All I will say is just think about what your doing, what you went through before, and what could happen again.
You take care now.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards. noitsnotme said:Denial is common among people with addictions of all kinds. Basically, denial is a way that you hide the truth of your addiction from yourself, for example, by making excuses, by blaming others, by blaming circumstances outside of your control, or by kidding yourself that you are in transition and that circumstances are about to change. Denial is used to cover up addiction from other people but is also used to avoid facing the fact that you are addicted, and that you will continue to have money problems until you overcome your addiction. You really do need help. You are heading right back into a DMP, or worse, until you fundamentally change your attitude to money and start to take personal responsibility for the mess you got yourself into last time. If you continue to think "life happened, not my fault" without realising that it was the financial house of cards that you built that got you into trouble it's going to keep happening, and you're already building up another house of cards as we speak.Dandytf said:
Maybe, I think it was spending and one or two changes in circumstances.Deleted_User said:Why would interest rates matter when you'll be paying off in full every month anyway? Leaving balances is the way to get you back into the debt problems you had before
Life events as some providers call them.
Please understand, people are not getting any joy out of "telling you off." We're trying to help.

With respect I never post detailed circumstances' online or elsewhere.
mse.com is mostly neutral which is fine most of the time.
I don't mind posting some experiences, often omitting personal circumstances.
thanks anyway.Replenished CRA Reports.2020 Nissan Leaf 128-149 miles top charge. Savings depleted. VM Stream tv M250 Volted to M350 then M500 since returned to 1gb0 -
I'm not asking for personal details, but whatever they are almost certainly won't change anything. You seem to be blaming life events for your financial situation, but if you were operating your finances in a proper way you could take the hit, at least for a period, without everything coming crashing down. And that, fundamentally, is what will have caused it, not the life events.Dandytf said:@ThisnotThat

And if you keep running up debts, which you may or may not be paying interest on, without any contingency in place for "life" hitting you in the face, it's going to happen again.1 -

There is nothing wrong with purchasing, even on credit, the problem is getting loads of credit allows you to run up the same situation that you got to with your DMP as soon as something goes wrong, start loading up cards, interest on interest, minimum payments and before you know it, you're back to DMP. I, like a lot of people, use credit all the time, cards are all paid off in full monthly except my 2 BT cards which are paid back monthly at 0% which have allowed me to use my spare cash to save and invest. With interest rates now pitiful, I am just going to be doing the Natwest 3% saver and the Nationwide £100 a month 2 year one on the off chance I might win something (very unlikely!) while continuing paying into my S&S ISA. I have a nice spreadsheet which shows me exactly the date I will clear my BT balances before they pay any interest and that is my only debt. I don't open up credit just for the sake of it and I know that, worst case, I can pay off my BT cards in full with cash if I need to. I know which of our two positions I would prefer to be in!

I'll pick up my next car in cash then🤣I do that quite frequently when I change cars usually after 4 or 5 years of having them from new as do a lot of people, I usually pay for it using one of my reward credit cards to get the points or cashback and then when my statement is due pay the full balance with cash from my bank account (yes there will be loads of comments that say dealers don't accept full payment with a credit card, however they have when I've purchased my cars thus far).It deffo seems like you haven't learned your lesson from your last DMP and are heading in the same direction this time!! You keep saying you have learned from your mistakes but your actions show us that it isn't the case. I've read one of your other posts where you say you owe the DWP £500 and you want to replace your TV and want an Xbox. You should forget the TV and Xbox and focus on paying what you owe the DWP as quickly as possible as they will deffo get there money from you one way or another, be it from any benefits you currently get or a charging order to take it from your salary every month.Time is a path from the past to the future and back again. The present is the crossroads of both. :cool:1 -
@dr_adidas01
If you found time to refer to my uc pre payment, at least stiick to my relevant post, where you'll find an answer as to why I 'owe' dwp 500 in return.
