The info from @[Deleted User] is really interesting but I hope for a future where, having pre-registered with suppliers, you could switch suppliers for certain hours of the day (eg overnight on those days of the week you charge the car) or even dynamically switch tariffs with the same supplier (eg overnight BOGOF offers).0

Suppliers are required to meet smart meter rollout targets set by Ofgem. They are actively encouraged to find neW ways of engaging with customers who so far have declined the offer of a smart meter. Your 72 year old friend might be interested to know that her supplier’s name is available in the smart meter menu. On switch, the new supplier has to take ownership of the meters that it is supplying. Before it can ‘talk’ to the meters it has to send out security certificates to each meter. It can then send out tariff information etc. That said, there are easier ways of finding out the supplier to a particular property.steamer_25 said:[Deleted User] said:steamer_25 said:[Deleted User] said:steamer_25 said:I've just installed a new computer OS and it's less complicated. Great idea but I can't see the companies letting that happen. Car charging is going to be a massive change for everyone the technology and infrastructure a playing catch up. We the consumers will pay the price like the railways which is now back in public ownership.Tallerdave said:The info from @[Deleted User] is really interesting but I hope for a future where, having pre-registered with suppliers, you could switch suppliers for certain hours of the day (eg overnight on those days of the week you charge the car) or even dynamically switch tariffs with the same supplier (eg overnight BOGOF offers).

To cover quite a few posts...
EDF turned up about 3 weeks ago (04/MAY/21), van 2 "technicians" looked at the meter, mumbled "5 wire meter" and quickly departed. None available apparently.
Following week one of them returned, would not / could not turn off my isolating switch. Excuse?
"It's your property and I can't touch it" so can I enter the premises (we still do our best to maintain a shielded household) and turn off the consumer units?
Are the consumer units not my property? So NO you can't, just turn off the isolating switch.
Would not, just packed up and left.
This week "Smart Choice Metering" turned up, within the hour an excellent standard of installation was achieved.
EDF have / are crediting me with £55 for the inconvenience.
EDF employees list
John Wayne
Clint Eastwood
James Stuart
Audie Murphy
and many more cowboys apparently.

Do they phone before they arrive?

Only once, to say they he was ahead of time and would be arriving in 20 minutes, IE: well early.
Then he left without doing owt.
NO I did not get the 30 minute 'warning' as stated.Forum, Agin 'em or Just Neutral?0 -

Mine is due to be fitted on Friday and I have storage heaters. If they don't show up with a 5-terminal meter I'll be sending them on their way.Gerry1 said:Apparently there is (or has been) a severe shortage of 5-terminal smart meters, i.e. the type that has a switched output that's connected to the immersion and night storage heater circuits so that they are automatically turned on only when the lower rate applies. You don't actually need a 5-port meter as along as they plan to fit an external contactor with a control lead back to the meter. So just make it clear to the installer that you need the circuit for your night storage heaters (presumably?) to be switched and all should be fine.

They know I have storage heaters on a circuit and turned up with a 5 port meter but aborted the installation due to there being no neutral blocks. They've referred it back to the DNO.MWT said:Swipe said:
