A directly related question - can you bring up a live value in Excel (as you can for stock prices)? Thanks.0

For example, this would be the code for FTSE Global All Cap:=IMPORTDATA("https://api.vanguard.com/rs/gre/gra/1.7.0/datasets/urd-product-details?path=[id=vanguard-ftse-global-all-cap-index-fund-gbp-acc][0].navPrice.value")

(Not for me, but for my partner who wants to have a better idea of the performance trend before moving forward. I did remind him past performance can't represent the future. )
Thanks. As you say, LOL.First, seeing an up or downtrend in the past absolutely says nothing about what a fund will do.Best you could use it for is comparative performance against other things you may benchmark it against.Second, how is looking at day to day performance from now any different to looking at day to day performance of a week or a month ago? Its still all in the past.Lastly, and key, with Vanguard since AFAIK all their investment vehicles are "passive" you arent really tracking Vanguard you are tracking the underlying indexe(s) it matches.Apart from minor differences in costs, Vanguard XYZ fund or ETF will be microscopically different to any other fund that tracks the same index. So, he might as well cut out the middleman and look at those indexes and then see if he can determine, from past movements, what they will do in future. If he is already able to do this, and assuming you arent living on your own tropical paradise island, then he presumably has a few billion squirrelled away somewhere from all his knowledge of stock market future moves so you two dont need to invest any more.1 -
