Went to my local Lidl this morning, only sweet popcorn Brie. There was a large space above with no shelf edge ticket, so no idea what was supposed to go there.

Thanks for looking for me @LindsayT

I'll check it out myself over the weekend - they might have different stuff at different stores.  We have a couple of huge ones near us and they usually get everything that's going on a special.

fyi - for those that need stuff - Aldi today had cooking oil of every sort in a variety of sizes.  Think the biggest was a 3 litre corn oil!  Obviously intended for those that want to stock up!  I was happy to just get some ordinary olive oil in the plastic bottle (rather than the expensive Kalamata OO in a glass bottle).  I don't tend to stock up on much other than when somethings in a multipack like 4 tins of beans or whatever.

You are welcome Brie. Unfortunately, my local Lidl is quite a small one but they usually have most things that are on special.

Lidl are advertising it's their American week.  If someone goes in to their local can you let me/us know if they've got back the cheddar cheese popcorn?  The ad says they have sweet popcorn but I consider that a rather vile concept.
So I see. With the exception of the gherkins, absolutely everything on offer is a health disaster.

I was intrigued and disgusted by the sight of the product below. What kind of aberration is this?:

Well it is American put any type of chocolate or cheese on something and they will eat it. If you ever find something an American won’t eat just deep fry it and there you go.

I bought some super-six fruit from Aldi this week. The cherries are nice but the oranges are very mediocre, and full of the most monstrous pips.

I did see this and wondered "what the fluff??"  there was another sweet one advertised as well which kinda boggled me.

I agree with the "top with chocolate or cheese" sentiment.  I do have a recipe for a chocolate cheese log which is a party thing to serve with plain biscuits (aka what a yank would call cookies).  Must admit it's surprisingly nice.  I guess the choc humous is intended to be used in much the same way.

Not, I’m sure that anyone here needs it, but for what it’s worth - as an exiled Aldi/Lidl shopper confined at present to Tesco for the deliveries, the quality of the fruit and veg is very poor.

The Tesco stuff described as Aldi Price Matched is even worse, nothing like the Aldi equivalent, and where Aldi is Class 1, Tesco will be Class 2.

The sooner I can return to Aldi and Lidl the better! And what’s even more incredible is the number of Tesco customers who still think Aldi sells inferior products.

Based on my recent shopping at several Aldi branches, I would say that these days the majority of fresh fruit and veg is at most B grade, and extremely short dated. A major issue I have is packaging now seems geared to preventing the customer seeing the condition of the contents...

Is this some kind of American vegan way of enjoying a sweet chocolatey food, how would you eat it?

I think I'll stick with my shamefully recent discovery of the heaven that is red pepper houmous in Aldi.
