Also in Aldi today I had my first experience of trying the vacuum packed minced beef, the 10% version.

Aldi claim it's the same mince, it  maybe the same meat grade, but it's been over minced into an ultrafine mass, compared to the stranded meat that the old packaging contained and cooks up like a slurry, as I've just found out.

I'll reserve final judgement until we've eaten it later, but I've a feeling minced beef will be another Aldi product we no longer buy...

We tried the same vacuum packed mince, but from Lidl, a while ago. Vowed I wouldn't buy it again.

Well after eating the above mince, our verdict is passable for a cheats chilli type dish with a thick sauce, but useless for say mince n onions or mince n diced veg in gravy. Will only be an occasional buy now instead of at least once a week🙄

That's interesting @harz99. I've been buying loose carrots in Sainsburys because they tend to be drier so last better than the bags. Aldi are obviously on case. Maybe onions will follow. 🤔
And possibly soup for one after that! So I will finally be able to try out my soup kettle when the freezer is depleted.

@harz99 - your last graphic should have come with a trigger warning!

Pancakes are just for Shrove Tuesday? Not in this house!  But who needs pancake mix?

Might be handy for Christmas Yorkies though! Not really my thing, but if you're going to buy Aunt Bessie's anyway then why not?

On a separate Lidl matter: a friend has just won a scratchcard worth having: £12.22 off a £12.22 shop!
