There was a shelf sticker in my Aldi yesterday but no bananas! Plenty of bunches but no individual ones.

Hmm, well I'm in the North East of England, are you in another area?

    Down South. 😊

  • I've been away for a month and I swear the Low GI Multiseed Cob from the Lidl bakery has got smaller.  It used to be enough for two days' sandwiches but now not enough.

I've now tried all 4 varieties of the Lidl frozen High Protein Ready Meals.

    The four are:-

Chicken Tikka Masala - a moderately spicy good quality Chicken curry with a side serving of basmati rice with added chickpeas and spinach.

Penne Beef Bolognese - penne pasta with a meaty (but not rich or overly herby) beef Bolognese sauce, including whole cherry tomatoes.

Naked Burrito - mildly spicy BBQ sauce with some peppers and beans, rice and cheese, and pieces of lean chicken.

Salt & Pepper Chicken - the least effective dish for me, partly because "Salt & Pepper Chicken" means something and this isn't it.   It's a Chinese-style sauce (with an over-reliance on five-spice, IMHO) with chicken and a side serving of rice with vegetables.    The pack photo isn't very accurate, and I'll probably have another look at it in a few months to see if they've managed to get closer to the named dish.

Overall, the first three dishes are good, and the range is good value for money compared to similar products elsewhere.    £1.85

You are right, my (free) "large" white sourdough has similarly shrunk.
No man is worth crawling on this earth.

So much to read, so little time.

Well known sneaky way of increasing the price, presumably neither of you knows the weight difference, unless the loaf is of denser consistency.
  • Also I have noticed a change in the white baguettes and rolls. The bake is very different either different flour or supplier.
Success is the sum of small efforts repeated day in and day out.Thats what I keep telling myself :-)

I'm pleased to report that loose bananas have reappeared in my Aldi, but no shelf sticker, however they were charged out at their weight based on 90p per kilo (2 x large were 35p).

Also worthy of note is the appearance of carrots and parsnips in loose form, price per kilo slightly lower than prepacked, also loose tomatoes.

That's interesting @harz99. I've been buying loose carrots in Sainsburys because they tend to be drier so last better than the bags. Aldi are obviously on case. Maybe onions will follow. 🤔
