I wonder if they get to take away the left over YS stuff at the end of the day at least if Aldi doesn't actually give them money off.
It does in part remind me of the story I heard at some point, some where about what M&S staff get. Something about a young bloke who was working at M&S in the build up to Christmas and all the staff was told that at closing time on Christmas eve they could get fresh food at something silly like 90% off as otherwise the stuff would get binned. So the young bloke was nervously waiting to see if there might be a turkey left that he told his dad he would try to get for the family. Well closing happened, the lad rushed in and grabbed a turkey and headed for the till only to be turned back by his manager and told to get more. He ran off and got a couple more things and was sent back again when he approached the till. Net result was a full trolley for a very small price and a exceedlingly well fed extended family.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe, Old Style Money Saving and Pensions boards. Since the cost of living crisis/increase in shoplifting they are discouraging trolleys at the self checkouts by limiting the number of items to 25.
I did a trolley shop last night because my larder was entirely depleted of mixers - oh the shame! - so I decided to to a bulk buy to keep me going over the next couple of months. Because I was buying so much liquid I took some big cardboard boxes so I could stack my shopping in the car boot efficiently. The nice young chap at the till asked me to lift these so he could see nothing was hidden in the trolley, which I was happy to do. But it did make me realise that pilfering is a problem that spans all demographics. Contrast this to my experience at Lidl at the weekend, the security man was clearly a temp and treated his role like an extension of his social life. He and his friends were actually getting underfoot of others and he was not taking his job seriously. Its not often I see a slacker at Lidl / Aldi so this stood out like a sore thumb.
Now for a negative: the price of Aldi 6-packs of crisps have been creeping up, 85p when I last bought them. What is new is the price differential between flavours: 85p for ready salted and 99p for anything with a bit of taste to it, which I find a bit odd.No man is worth crawling on this earth.

Probably come out of the same factory.2

I won't be a repeat customer for Lidl's Hula Hoops.
They proved much more challenging to chew than their branded counterparts.

Lidl have changed the ingredients on the Premium Bon Gelati Chocolate icecream and Bourbon Vanilla icecream, changed the packaging and quietly dropped 'Premium' from the description. Even so, the price is creeping up.
Will have to find an alternative.Fashion on the Ration 2025 37/661 -
@alicef If you've a Morrisons near you try Morelli's ice-cream. It's regularly on offer (£4 down to £3) and it's bl00dy good. I don't buy anything else now.I removed the shell from my racing snail, but now it's more sluggish than ever.2

@YoungBlueEyes thank you for the tip! Morries is just down the road from the Lidl so easy to pop in. Will check it out on the next food shop.Fashion on the Ration 2025 37/662

I was wondering how much Christmas stuff you have seen in your local Lidl store? Mine has some mince pies and I think it was lebkuchen, but not much else. When I went shopping today I was hoping they might have had the stollen/stollen bites, Xmas puds and flavoured crisps in stores by now like some other supermarkets.1
