We don’t by Lindt since they killed the Lidl Easter Bunnies.
Is there real dark chocolate anywhere at a reasonable price?I think that is the problem, quality comes at a cost, but given you are limiting yourself, why not just buy the best you can afford and indulge?Try the Waitrose rangesNumerus non sum4 -
Cheap is not reasonable! If you want real food you have to pay real prices.Nelliegrace said:

The Lidl chocolate always seems to be nice - not sure about some of the additives so you'll need to double check.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe, Old Style Money Saving and Pensions boards. What do you call “reasonable” @Nelliegrace?I love dark choc (I don’t go to your lengths re additives though tbf) but what I call reasonable might not be the same as you?"One has to free oneself from the illusion that international climate change policy is environmental policy. Instead, climate change policy is about how we redistribute de facto the world's wealth." - Ottmar Edenhofer, IPCC economist, interviewed at COP162

Well, yes you can do that, however that means you are then paying for goods, a proportion of which aren't fit for consumption - so you the customer are paying for Lidl/Aldi's food waste. And that's assuming they are in good condition when you buy them, i've had packs with carrots like that at opening on day of purchase.wild666 said:
I buy carrots in Lidl but after a week they tend to get slimy either in the middle or on the ends, I just cut out the slimy bits and use as usual, no ill effects in doing so.harz99 said:
Not if it's going rotten after a day like the carrots, or frost damaged like the potatoes full of black bits or going soft. There seems to be a lot of rubbish only fit for cattle food being fobbed off on us lately.Rosa_Damascena said:Nothing wrong with grade 2 f&v. I would suggest your unlikely to get what you want in any major supermarket, let alone the discounters like A and L with their quite narrow range of products. Try a specialist chocolate retailer, If Thorntons are still around maybe them...or this one from SainsburyNelliegrace said:I could not find any dark chocolate at Aldi which did not have soya lecithin emulsifiers. Funny you should mention that one. It’s my wife’s sole chocolate treat at the moment. Pricey at around £2.60 for 90g (ours came from Amazon) but one or two squares does the trick, she says.harz99 said:

Ingredients:
“Dark chocolate contains Cocoa Solids 100%“
Sainsbury seems to have it at £2 with a Nectar card at the moment.
A very adult chocolate. Far too adult for me!7 -
Oh yes... Falls off the MS wagon with a bump. Very Very grown up - the lads don't like it at all so I get to eat The Whole Thing. There are other single country of origin dark chocolate bars (or there were, I'm still nibbling the Montezuma) that might meet your ethical standards? (Rummaging the rubbish bin, skip the Coop. The Irresistible with cute sloth on the packaging does not meet your standards)4 -
It is sad that chocolate manufacturers have adulterated traditional brands of chocolate to make more profit, and have ruined them.
We found Montezuma Absolute Black at 85p for 90g at the new Waitrose in Dobbies Garden Centre. Thank you for the recommendations.4 -
