Good and Bad Buys at Lidl and Aldi stores (***Please don't expire***)

Tesco delivery yesterday, 14 April. Two packs of grapes with a Best Before date 14 April and various other produce with a much shorter date than shown as the minimum on the website. Grapes going mouldy, and other stuff looks trampled on.
Aldi click and collect next week instead of Tesco - if anyone’s still in any doubt about the quality of their produce, as against Tesco’s, forget it. Tesco are trying to match Aldi on price, but failing to match the quality.

I thought mouldy grapes and stamped on veg was Aldi quality.2

just to point out that in the Aldi magazine on the fruit & veg offers it states- at the top of the page:
"Aldi fruit and veg. 100% fresh. Guaranteed.
and a little rosette says:
Fresh Guarantee. 100% HAPPY OR YOUR MONEY BACK"
I note they are showing FPC Fresh awards 2022- retailer of the year for fresh fruit & veg
FPC= Fresh Produce Consortium
When I have had the odd thing still in date and past it's best I have taken it back and it has been replaced or refunded without a quibble.
Handy that the store is local- if it was Tesco I would mutter as that is a 30 mile round tripBeing polite and pleasant doesn't cost anything!

"As a loyal customer I don't expect to buy rotten items and I'm so disappointed.......so on..... you get the gist!"
Okay, it's only 30 pence... but it's your 30 pence... and the phone call is free
I think in the past they've told me to take the label back and the till receipt and when I have said that won't be for a month..... fine it's in the bookBeing polite and pleasant doesn't cost anything!

Since prices have increased at L & A it's been a question for me as to whether they have somewhat caught up with the Big Stores, or whether there remains clear, blue water between them.
So, when I got a Sainsbury's voucher I thought it would be an opportunity to find out, and the result was quite interesting.
Overall, JS prices remain significantly higher than much of L & A produce. Where there are Aldi price match items, those are generally JS's off-brands versions of products although these are pretty good from what I've seen before. If there isn't an off-brand item or you don't fancy it, then prices are significantly higher - in some cases twice as much.
The worst thing is where JS doesn't have an own-brand version, where L & A do. In those cases, virtually identical products are over twice as much. (e.g. Ryvita and other cracker products).5
