Lidl CS is fast to respond, particularly if you make contact via W'App and are always pleasant I find.Brie said:Well here's a thing!!
Chaos in Lidl yesterday - a sign by the entrance saying cash only and one of the staff saying the same to people going in. I needed a number of things but only had £9 on me so was aiming for the bare essentials - strawberries and chicken. Got to the tills to discover they were taking cards but they had to be cards, not phones or watches or whatever else. So went round the shop again and back to a queue of 30 people at the self service. There was one staffed till also working but it was cash only as the SS were all card only. Scanned all my stuff including my Lidl Plus freebie only to discover that Lidl Plus wasn't working. Got removed as wasn't an essential, paid and exited.
Got home and decided to grump a bit at Lidl - easy to do on their app as there is a contact form on there. I was polite, said what the problem was, asked if they could add my points to the app for me, asked also if they could extend the vouchers I couldn't use and were about to expire. And then added if they could do either of those things I would be happy if they gave me a gift voucher that I could use for the food bank. Polite salutation and expected a response sometime next week.
Imagine my surprise to get an email back in an hour with this......Thanks for getting in touch.
I'm sorry, we can’t add this missed receipt onto your monthly tracker.
Each week I have a £20.00 voucher to give away as a Random Act of Kindness.
You made my day today, so I‘m sending it to you to give to the food bank.
Isn't that lovely!! It's good to complain (politely) sometimes!!!
I went into Lidl again this lunchtime to buy some more cherries whilst still on offer. I had a good hunt around as the ones I hoovered up this week were the Kordia variety and I wanted to get hold of more. There were 3 different species available today: Vulcano, Korvic and Piccolo. Well I wasn't interested in the anaemic looking latter, but bought some of the others so I could compare and contrast to the one remaining pack of Kordia in my fridge:
Credit card 1700
Overdraft 210
2026 EF 50/3000
All I want is a weather forecast saying there'll be more weather.0 -
I always look for tater tots during Lidl week. A nice big bag and they are really tatsy (previously lived over there).1

The oyster sauce in the Lidl Asian section is very poor weak tasting and too runny.1

My local Aldi has chocolate Easter Bunny's on sale already!1

Late to the party, then! Waitrose had chocolate eggs etc in the seasonal aisle as they knocked down the prices of Christmas goodies on 27th Decemberharz99 said:My local Aldi has chocolate Easter Bunny's on sale already!
I tried this last night - needed something quick and this was that. Another pleasant surprise from the vegan range:
No man is worth crawling on this earth.
So much to read, so little time.1 -
It’s a given. Shelves emptied of Christmas stuff are filled with Easter stuff. Summer stuff replaces the Easter stuff. Halloween and Christmas stuff replaces the Summer stuff. But only because we’re gullible enough to fall for it and buy the same high margin things several times over before the actual events.4

My Aldi has the silly reduced section now with unlabelled items. I have barely picked up a red sticker product since the new system began because the vultures just take it all. I prefer the old method of searching the shelf for the product you want.2

So "the vultures" know what they will be charged? Or are they just assuming it will be what they want to pay?robrymond said:My Aldi has the silly reduced section now with unlabelled items. As I don't shop at Aldi more than about once a quarter, I would have to pick up a reduced item and walk around to look for the full price item in order to work out whether I actually wanted to buy it.1 -
I'd assume the 'vultures' are confident that 30% or more off the competitive Aldi price represents good value for money.
Sometimes I've already picked up a full price item in the fruit and veg section and returned it when I see the same item in the reduced section. Obviously the short date influences me too but not when it's something I can freeze or use quickly.5 -
There's yarn! well, acrylic wool in different colours & thicknesses at affordable rates. I plan to have a bash at a beanie (the level of my knitting skills) & possibly mittens if there's enough wool left. Not a vast range of colours in chunky, but more if you don't mind thinner wool/are more patient/better at knitting.2
