I take an offer as feedback. They offer if they like it, if not no offer.

the only feedback I got on my house after 40 viewers was the garden was too small.  Fair enough - it’s a small garden - which is obvious from the pictures.

people sometimes fell pressured to say something when they aren’t interested.  I just said nice house but not for me when I was asked.

If I have any actual feedback I'd be happy to offer it. Most of the time there isn't anything particularly wrong, the house just isn't for me.

I did offer some feedback on a house early this year, it was overpriced. The EA was very argumentative, telling me how wrong I was and how unreasonable my expectations are. It's still on sale which somewhat backs up my opinion but it did put me off of offering feedback a little.
  • Thanks everyone :)

we’ve been to view a house today and offered some feedback to the agent because even though it’s unlikely we will buy it even if available when we sell, atleast they’re not having to wait and there were afew things that have really put us off - on the market for 12 weeks - lots of views but no offers so they might benefit.

I've given feedback on most of the properties I viewed but, as people say, it's not going to be particularly constructive as it's usually things that can't be changed.

One exception was the flat I viewed that had a full sink of filthy washing-up water still in it with a mouldy pan scourer floating on the top.  There was also dirty underwear piled on top of the washing machine and some toenail clippings on the side of the bath :)  I hated the flat anyway so even if it had been sparkling clean I wouldn't have made an offer.

This is disgusting! But, I'm sure there are a lot of people (probably myself included) who would offer regardless of the state of the place if they liked it enough.

Oh, definitely.  If I'd loved the place I'd have ignored the state of it and offered but it had many faults (imo) that couldn't be rectified.  It's still on the market 6 months later despite it being in a prime location.

What use is feedback to you? If the agent says Mr X said the road is too busy or Ms Y said the garden wasn't what she wanted then how does that help you?
If a buyer is interested they'll make an offer - that's the only feedback you need to worry about.

The thing about feedback is that a lot of it is a "reason" why the viewer doesn't want the house. The EA asks for feedback, the viewer is put under pressure and says anything, usually complete rubbish. We had all sorts of weird feedback, from they didn't like the layout to the house was draughty (we had open fireplaces!) and everything in-between.

When we were viewing houses, if we saw one that we didn't like,  I'd only ever say that the house wasn't for us. I wasn't about to make stupid or upsetting comments about someone else's home.  If we saw one that we knew we really  liked, we made an offer on it.

I wouldn't worry about feedback as most of it is completely meaningless. EAs should know this.

Our agent used to give us initial fee a o if what vibes he got and what was said just after the viewing and then a couple of days later the feedback that was actually said from the viewer, so it gave us some idea of what would be said and if they seemed promising or not.

The only feedback I got selling was either deafening silence, second viewings or offers.  People don't like to give feedback.
