Speeding Fine

My missus would laugh uproariously and tell me I was a prat if I did that. He just needs to take the points on the chin.1

The other day I was happily pootling along and suddenly every car coming the other way was frantically flashing me. I thought I had my lights on or something. But no, a little further on, there was a speed camera van.
And fixed cameras are bright yellow and even marked on Google Maps, Waze, in-built sat-navs.
The odds are so much in the driver's favour I find it incredible.0 -

Last time I got caught, about 7 years ago, a very friendly policeman leapt out from behind a hedge and waved a hairdryer at me. 40 in a 30, 100m before NSL sign. Half day of tea and biccies? Thank you very much - and please don't take a thousand similar offences into consideration.0 -

Nowadays I pass through over 60 fixed speed cameras a week and I have not had speeding fine since the above (now in my late 40's) but recently a relative of mine who has never had a ticket in over 30 yrs of driving ended up getting a serious one for a momentary lapse of concentration - smart motorway dropped from 70 to 40 in a matter of a few hundred metres between gantries, road was near empty (seen the photos - no apparent reason to be 40) and unfortunately getting a 69 in a 40 court summons. Most of the gantries don't have cameras but this particular one is well known for dramatic speed reductions compared to the previous one.

I’ve no idea if he can change the option after choosing, but I doubt it. But note that as he has not done the course it means he can do it next time (if offered) you can’t do the course more than once every 3 years (I think). Not had the fortune of doing it or points (I have no idea how).0

How people get caught for speeding is one thing, it's people trying everything to get out of it that does my head in.
You've been a chancer, you've been unobservant, you've been caught, deal with it.
Please don't take this is a holier-than-thou post, I regularly break speed limits out of town and often reach speeds that would have me instantly banned.
I accept the risk, yet I have a clean licence and have done for years.
Don't tell me it's luck, that's an abstract construct - joo-joo, bunkum.
It's called being aware of my surroundings, looking ahead and being aware of where it's likely police would/could sit.

"ooh I was unlucky to get done for speeding"
No you weren't, you were in an area that will have been marked as possibly containing fixed or mobile cameras, as per the legal requirement, so weren't paying attention.....0
