Asda Home Delivery - no bags, no crates, just pressure to unload.

I can't stand for more than a few seconds at a time, and would take a long long time to empty crates. I haven't had a bagless Tesco delivery yet, but my plan is to ask the driver to tip everything onto the floor just inside the door. (At present he puts the bags just inside the door.) Then I can sit and transfer things to a veg rack with a grabber as I have been doing, and push the veg rack to the kitchen, but I'll be buying my eggs and anything else fragile from Waitrose in future!2

I had my first bag-less Asda delivery yesterday, driver lifted the crates into my lobby [I'm unable to do so] and packed into my bags with me helping where I couldAll went well and no hassle or quibbles, very helpful. but they can see I use a walking stick which takes any need for an explanation awayEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0

I do wonder how these supermarkets deal with customers who have physical disabilities or elderly who are slow, struggle to bend to pick items etc.
As many customers who use online grocery shopping are these people!
My friend who used to do online grocery shopping for her late gran, would have struggled. Friend lived 100 miles away so couldn’t help out.1 -

Friend lived 100 miles away so couldn’t help out.As I mentioned in the post above yours, I am in this category & the drivers help if asked politely.I mention in the delivery details I will need help and so far in over a year I've had no problems whatever

Abel & Cole and Riverford both leave their own cardboard boxes which we return the next time we have a delivery. Watts Farm recycles boxes from their suppliers and doesn't ask for them back. Waitrose uses bags, as does Iceland. If we end up with a bagless delivery, we use a cardboard box if we have one handy Otherwise a huge trolley bag from a French supermarket.0

I used to have a delivery pass with Asda and would have a delivery every Saturday morning between 8-9. The only reason I stopped having it and going myself to shop, was I got tired of things not being available and things being short dated, so it was impossible to shop for the week. So I came to the conclusion I preferred to shop for myself and pick my own food.
On the subject of the crates, we would just take the crate into the kitchen, empty and bring it back. The driver was happy to wait for the empty crates without any complaints.Striving to clear the mortgage before it finishes in Dec 2028 - amount currently owed - £26,322.670 -
I am disabled and really struggling with my Asda weekly delivery slot, as I can’t lift crates, or lift heavy itemsOut of the crates and they won’t bring them in they won’t bring them in. I understand the need to reduce plastic but they need to have some sort of disability solution for those of us with poor grip and lifting issues. I wish they would I do use paper bags or recycled plastic0

Had an ASDA delivery yesterday, first time in months. Husband and driver just piled it all into a Riverford box ie more like a fruit tray. What bothers me more is the close contact. The dominant variant of Covid-19 is far more transmissible than others and resistant to the vaccine. The drivers are interracting with multiple people per day.0

As mentioned above some supermarkets do still use bags - we get Ocado deliveries and they do and give you money back for each bag you return (doesn't have to be Ocado) - and also do Aldi click and collect which uses giant compostable bags they load into your car for you. The amount of food we get bagless deliveries are carnage and I just won't do it - but always return my bags the following week so it's cost (and bag) neutral:eek::eek::eek: LBM 11/05/2010 - WE DID IT - DMP of £62000 paid off in 7 years:jDFD April20171
