Asda Home Delivery - no bags, no crates, just pressure to unload.

I know this might be a case of "depending on space available" but is anyone else frustrated that ASDA do not leave the crates behind and collect them the next time.
I have spoken with ASDA who basically say- we don't do it! end of.
So Asda promise to reduce plastic and no longer have plastic bags - great, but why don't they allow customers who have weekly delivery passes to keep the crates and swap them out each time the new order comes. It is not rocket science, would avoid the pressure put on the customer to unpack quickly and would stop customers buying their own plastic tubs to move them into. Also in regard to an employee productivity manner, less time waiting as people unload their shopping= more deliveries = more delivery charges, more product selling = more profit.
I seriously cannot see why there is so much resistance.
Two ways Asda could help- Include a nominal fee in delivery passes to rent the trays, sell trays that DO NOT have the Asda logo on them or are say green or pink or any colour but the delivery stock, so that customers can have the ASDA delivery driver unload into similar shaped trays that stack and are made to store groceries, rather than try to cram them into customers boxes.
Maybe just me!

I read really can’t see what the issue is! Takes me less than a minute or two to unload into my own bags from the crates!
mountain and molehill spring to mindBe happy, it's the greatest wealth6 -
Each to their own I suppose, it certainly doesn’t take me two minutes.
I suppose your shopping must be the molehill and mine the mountain of produce then.5KW solar, Lux 3.8KW inverter, Uhome 2400 LPF x 6, SOLIC 200 immerser diverter, Leaf 62Kwh, MG ZSev, Ohme home charger, Zappi v2.1, Import: Octopus intelligent ; Export: Octopus Energy Export, 15KW biomass pellet boiler - Windhager., Home Assistant (newbie)2 -
I have never has their bags, only at the start of the pandemic when all deliveries came already bagged but I have not had a problem with the no bag policy. I would not have chosen to pay for them anyway. The driver I have had the last 2 weeks has asked me for my bags and filled them for me. I am usually quite quick emptying their crates anyway as I have plastic crates that fold flat that I use. He said that he would see me next week so I do not know if they are on fixed rounds now.0

I use Tesco rather than Asda; same issue but I haven't bought my own crates to unload into - I just have 2 bags and my empty washing basket at the door, and unload from the crates into those.:heartpuls Mrs Marleyboy :heartpuls

If Asda are pressurising you to unload quickly, change supermarkets? I've had two different Tesco drivers tell me to slow down and not rush so much! I think part of it is that I moved from London to a small sleepy town a few years ago, and I still move at 'London' speeds, but still, never felt any pressure to go quickly that wasn't entirely self inflicted.
I just use reusable bags - couple of big tkmaxx ones for fridge and cupboard, few smaller supermarket ones for freezer, non-food and drinks fridge. It's handier for me, as Tesco keep things like peppers and chillies 'ambient' while I keep them in the fridge, and I can check dates as I go. No need to mess around with plastic crates, and they're certainly sturdy enough - used weekly for over two years and I've not needed to replace any yet!4 -
The crates are used every day - it would hardly be reducing plastic for Asda to buy 7 times as many crates so that each customer could keep them (and that's assuming every customer orders from Asda every week!) It would also add a huge amount of cost to the operation - the type of crates the supermarkets use are not cheap - which would be reflected in the delivery charges that everyone loves to moan about6

I work in Home shopping. These totes are a quite expensive. We often run out and have to wait for a van to return with totes so we can continue picking. We can't leave them behind. Can you imagine how many we would need to purchase. They were often left with places that had huge deliveries eg schools and nursing homes. But at the next delivery they would not be returned. Some were found full of compost being used to grow plants around the school. Others full of books. It's because of non-returns and misuse that we no longer leave them.10

What's the problem? Take a crate to the kitchen, unload it on to your counters, go get another one, or are you one of these people that drivers always complain about that have to put everything away.
I'm failing to see how the time it takes you could be much more than it takes any other person getting a delivery, that it warrants comment from the driver.1 -
I have a garden trolley that I empty all the crates into and it take minutes so I dont really see why they should leave crates behind at great expense when realistically it really is only a matter of minutes for you to offload them (assuming you have no mobility problems)I’m a Senior Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Competitions Time, Shopping & Freebies boards, Employment, Jobseeking & Training boards If you need any help on these boards, do let me know. To those who have helped with solutions. Thank you. I do like the trolley idea. I am quite disappointed by the nastiness of some comments. I always saw this forum as one of help but I feel the attack at me less than helpful.5KW solar, Lux 3.8KW inverter, Uhome 2400 LPF x 6, SOLIC 200 immerser diverter, Leaf 62Kwh, MG ZSev, Ohme home charger, Zappi v2.1, Import: Octopus intelligent ; Export: Octopus Energy Export, 15KW biomass pellet boiler - Windhager., Home Assistant (newbie)3
