The 2 series that looks like a car (F22) is rear wheel drive,

RWD or not, you can't mistake a 2 Series for a fighter jet.

I always was told newer to back because of understeer but also back tyre sudden puncture is more difficult than a front ?
The risk of a puncture is not related to tread wear.
Having had three punctures in almost brand new tyres in the past month, more than we've had in the previous X years, I can confirm this is the case.
What it is related to is my wife driving along a recently opened road through a building site and a lack of cleaning up procedures.  :(

You have my sympathy. I had a puncture in a 48hr old CrossClimate a few years back (think it was a nail..) and it had to be replaced - thankfully I think they were £80ish a tyre for the car at the time, though I wasn't flush back then so it still stung.
