We’d like to remind Forumites to please avoid political debate on the Forum.
This is to keep it a safe and useful space for MoneySaving discussions. Threads that are – or become – political in nature may be removed in line with the Forum’s rules. Thank you for your understanding.
PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING: Hello Forumites! In order to help keep the Forum a useful, safe and friendly place for our users, discussions around non-MoneySaving matters are not permitted per the Forum rules. While we understand that mentioning house prices may sometimes be relevant to a user's specific MoneySaving situation, we ask that you please avoid veering into broad, general debates about the market, the economy and politics, as these can unfortunately lead to abusive or hateful behaviour. Threads that are found to have derailed into wider discussions may be removed. Users who repeatedly disregard this may have their Forum account banned. Please also avoid posting personally identifiable information, including links to your own online property listing which may reveal your address. Thank you for your understanding.

What makes you think I'm a conspiracy theorist or interested in the above?MobileSaver said:
If you want to discuss such things with other conspiracy theorists then Quora may be the place for you; you can also discuss that 9/11 was a hoax, the U.S. election was rigged and the holocaust never happened. All bizarre and even distasteful discussions to me but each to their own.Davesnave said:On a personal level I'm wary of posting about matters involving Convid,Because you'd said you had received warnings for saying things about "matters involving Convid"? I assumed that meant you thought Covid was a con/hoax? Or was it just a typo?

I never spell it correctly on here. I might be paranoid, but when I've used the correct spelling, trouble has followed, so either someone's reported me or software is used to track the word, because mods don't usually read all the posts.I don't agree with a lot of policy related to the virus, but that's not saying it doesn't exist or it's a conspiracy. I'm only interested in facts, but they may still be contentious, or seen as such. When I got my second warning, I supplied the relevant data to the mods, but they didn't respond and the strike stayed in place despite what I'd said being accurate. No doubt this is because data may be interpreted in different ways, much like house price statistics in fact.

I recall DavesNave making some covid comments and they didn't strike me as unreasonable and I work in a related field but they were off arguably topic for a house moving thread. There is no shortage of sites to debate that subject if one feels the needMobileSaver said:Davesnave said:

Ah, apologies, perhaps not the best choice of mis-spelling if you are trying NOT to attract attention.Davesnave said:MobileSaver said:Davesnave said:

I agree, my mistake. I've seen others use the con prefix in many situations, but if its conveying the notion that the illness itself isn't real, then clearly it's the wrong word for those of us who focus more on government responses and the interpretation of data or research.MobileSaver said:

It ran for some time though, and had 20k views, much more than any other thread on the first page?Slithery said:
Sure. From the 'Debate House Prices' board...BikingBud said:
Perhaps you could enlighten us about the rules that were broken and the conduct that was considered unacceptable. We’re struggling at the moment with the huge volumes of messages we’re getting from Forumites about coronavirus and the impact it’s having on their finances. We’re a small team and we’re doing our best to manage this spike in demand. As a result, we’ve reluctantly decided to temporarily close the Debate House Prices & the Economy Board so that we can redirect our limited resources to those who need us most at this time.
Please do not post content intended for this board elsewhere in the forum – we appreciate your help and understanding during this exceptionally difficult time. It goes without saying, we hope to get back to full business as soon as possible!0 -
Maybe, when the market cools though it will be all over the internet/media anyway, a dedicated thread is neither here nor there really?Thrugelmir said:Anybody would think that starting another thread that serves no real purpose on the forum is in itself obtuse.0
