I think Waitrose should run some ads that point up the difference between their own brand produce and other supermarkets.

Despite the demise of MySupermarket, I'm pretty sure that MSErs are experts at picking up branded stuff on offer and YS items. Not all own-brand products are created equal however and you get what you pay for.

One supermarket may allow a poultry farmer to feed chickens with GM feed and another won't. The presence of secondhand GM is left to the consumer to investigate because it doesn't have to be labelled though scientists know that it does transfer from chicken to human.

Most shoppers don't look at the corporate websites and don't ask questions, so supermarkets get away with this.

???  Which scientists know this?  Are you saying humans are genetically modified from eating chicken if those chickens have been genetically modified by eating GM feed?

University of Newcastle for one. They did a study which showed that a single GM soya bean travelled through the body and altered gut bacteria. Gut bacteria play a big part in health and the immune system. There are others but I'm hoping that you can Google because I need to do a shopping list.

Well you misread that for a start - it wasn't a single bean which they tracked!  If others are interested, they could read more.

(I'm sorry this is off topic but the subject was introduced and I don't believe should be left unchallenged.)
  • Yesterday I was lucky to find a next day Waitrose delivery slot. It was 3pm so got a free paper. Cut off was 6pm. So only had couple of hrs to do shop online. No delivery charge. If it does come in then I hope graduated like Asda/Sainsbury's not flat fee like Tesco as have no issues at getting delivery later in eve. Once had FREE Sainsbury's after 10pm slot.
Waitrose price match any subs in order & not a voucher like Sainsbury's.
Today's delivery had several subs which I worked out cost Waitrose at least £4.60!

Received an email from Waitrose tody, telling me that orders placed after 09/09/21 will have a £3 flat rate delivery charge, Think that's pretty reasonable myself.

It’s now on their website and national from 9 September.  £3 isn’t bad, but if, like many people, you already have a delivery pass with Tesco, Asda etc, you’re going to be very unlikely to buy from Waitrose. At the moment we alternate between Tesco and Waitrose, but as the Tesco deliveries will remain cost free with the pass, we’ll shop far less often at Waitrose - even though Click and Collect remains free if you spend £40.

Yes I got that as well - £3 isn't the end of the world - I'd spend that on petrol just to get to my nearest Waitrose and back.

Never tried it. Always buy free range organic British chicken at Tesco. Is it a Waitrose thing?
