I sent my letter to the above address on 15-5-2021, requesting a full review of my deceased mums pension entitlement. I waited 4 weeks and called them up to enquire whether they had received my letter. I was told they received it on 21-5-2021 and it was on the list to be dealt with by the 'new' dedicated team and I would be contacted once it had been addressed...................today is 21-8-2021 and I'm still waiting.
................a quick follow up to my post above : today is 4/07/2023 and I'm still waiting !!!
My understanding is that they are (understandably IMO) prioritising the cases of those still living

Be interesting to know how they define “Prioritising’ they wrote to my Mother in late 2021, telling her they were dealing with her application and asked her a couple of questions, that is the last time she has heard anything. I could be really cynical and say someone at the the top is de-prioritising the eldest pensioners as they will probably die before they have to be paid out but i won’t. My Mother is 93

    De-prioritising the most elderly pensioners.

As Poohsticks pointed out that he understands they are prioritising the living, so as 10’s of thousands of ederly women have already died waiting for their payout, why not take it a step further and concentrate on the younger OAP’s waiting for their payout, meanwhile thousands of the eldest OAP’s are dying, therefore the de-prioritised list will get get longer, so less for the DWP to worry about.

Prioritising the living is probably legally allowed, but doing what you describe is probably illegal under age discrimination laws.

Probably is very Subjective, hopefully the DWP is treating everyone equally.
Meanwhile 3 years down the line and any deadlines have long passed.

I understand that and also agree with your thinking........however.....I'm still alive and have now been waiting for 27 month ( and counting) for a review that has been promised/prioritised/pledged and downright lied about during many many calls with 'working from home' 'people' who have no idea what they are doing.............Sept 2022/sorry Mr.Hall it seems your file was lost/misplaced in the office and we are now going to prioritise your claim because of the unacceptable time you have been waiting...yeah rite......9 month later/zilch.20 people working from home looking at tv and sorting 100's of thousands of claims......disgrace to the country IMO.

Lets face it, it is just pot luck if your case is sorted, there doesn't seem to be any coordination in the office dealing with the debacle. I read a few month's ago it could take years to sort, one would assume thousands more pensioners will have died by then.
Maybe the DWP apologists/defenders on this thread will enlighten us to how the DWP are dealing with the now out of control situation
