Women’s underpaid state pension

Wow. That is a long time. My mum's coming up to 10 weeks since she contacted them. The MSE site gives a phone number - 0800 731 0469 (press option four, then option two) - but I don't know what department that actually takes you to. Might be worth giving them a call? I think my mum is going to call them once it reaches 10 weeks.littlemissbossy said:
I contacted the DWP regarding my late MIL's state pension in November 2020, in March 2021 I received a text to say they would reply within 12 weeks..... that date has been and gone!sparky0138 said:For those who contacted DWP, how long did it take to get a reply please?0 -
@sparky0138 I've called them a few times, they're very pleasant to deal with but they won't transfer you to the relevant department.sparky0138 said:

Not sure if this will help, I had a long conversation a couple of days ago, with someone via an HMRC webchat, cut a long story short, she told me to write to:superskihaddock said:I recently called DWP to claim my deceased mother’s underpaid state pension, which I understood would fall within the rules according to everything I’ve read - only to be receive a letter advising - “you could have made a claim on behalf of ...following their death, but the time period has now ended” and this should have been within 6 months of d.o.d. I thought the underpayment issue had only come to light in 20/21?

I sent my letter to the above address on 15-5-2021, requesting a full review of my deceased mums pension entitlement. I waited 4 weeks and called them up to enquire whether they had received my letter. I was told they received it on 21-5-2021 and it was on the list to be dealt with by the 'new' dedicated team and I would be contacted once it had been addressed...................today is 21-8-2021 and I'm still waiting.1

Given that at present there currently seem to be problems paying out living people reaching retirement age any of their new state pension (probably exacerbated by the creation of the 'new' team to look into cases like yours taking staff away from the existing teams), in your position I wouldn't be holding my breath......

Maybe when SEISS and also the Furlough scheme finishes, HMRC and the DWP will divert hundreds of their recently recruited staff to dealing with the Pensions debacle.0

Be totally inefficient to pull a single case out of the pile. Will be dealt with when it's next on the list. Far more productive use of time.44ALLAN44 said:I sent my letter to the above address on 15-5-2021, requesting a full review of my deceased mums pension entitlement. Which did a useful article which suggests it will be 2023 before they complete these reviews.
I suspect p00hsticks is probably correct and they will be prioritising the living, whether it be new claimants or those owed arrears.

Hopefully the 360 extra staff they have taken on will speed things up a bitDazed_and_C0nfused said:Which did a useful article which suggests it will be 2023 before they complete these reviews.
