When the gas Safe Certificate was carried out the gas Safe engineer is now required to check all the CO alarms.Private sector landlords are required from 1 October 2015 to have at least one smoke alarm installed on every storey of their properties and a carbon monoxide alarm in any room containing a solid fuel burning appliance (eg a coal fire, wood burning stove).https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/smoke-and-carbon-monoxide-alarms-explanatory-booklet-for-landlords/the-smoke-and-carbon-monoxide-alarm-england-regulations-2015-qa-booklet-for-the-private-rented-sector-landlords-and-tenants

There's no legal requirement for an interlinked mains wired smoke alarm.
That's bad news for manufacturers of interlinked mains wired smoke alarms.
But good news for tenants who don't want to be jolted out of bed every time their neighbour two floors down burns the toast at 2am.

I have a smoke alarm upstairs and one downstairs. There is no gas in the house therefore no CO2 alarm is required.
