PCP isn't MSE

Though it is a decent deal if you get a 0% PCP deal, with a discount on the car (e.g. through drive the deal or car wow) for those who want a new car.dipsomaniac said:Doesn't matter how you dress it up it's not saving money. Which is what this forum is about. PCP is a expensive way (& encourages you to drive a more expensive car than you can afford) to drive a car1 -
So....where does it all stop then....?dipsomaniac said:Investment is about saving money. PCP is definitely not
How is having SKY TV 'saving money' when you could have freeview?
How is having holidays 'saving money', no-one needs a holiday at all.
DO tell.

dipsomaniac said:PCP is all about people that can't afford a 40 k car driving a 40k car.You know you can get a PCP on the UK's cheapest new car (Dacia Sandero, £7,995) for £99/month? It's not all about being flash, it's just a cheaper (MSE) way to finance something. If this site was all about being as cheap as possible, then there'd be no discussions beyond the cheapest way to bodge a £100 banger back onto the road.

This forum has been hijacked by people thinking it's ok to spend £200+ pm borrowing money to drive a car. It's not MSE. People that can afford that don't need MSE imho. It's not me that needs to recalibrate. Maserati anyone?"The Holy Writ of Gloucester Rugby Club demands: first, that the forwards shall win the ball; second, that the forwards shall keep the ball; and third, the backs shall buy the beer." - Doug Ibbotson0

This is getting silly. It's a motoring forum and no-one is saying not to take holidays or subscribe to sky TV. I bought a car for £200 17 months ago and am still driving it 12000 miles later. I think that is money saving. It's not me that needs to recalibrateBOWFER said:

The stated aim of the site when started was to "cut your bills without cutting back".dipsomaniac said:

It isn't about living as cheaply as possible, but enabling people to live the way they want as cheaply as possible.

So posts about how to buy the cheapest Divo is ok?"The Holy Writ of Gloucester Rugby Club demands: first, that the forwards shall win the ball; second, that the forwards shall keep the ball; and third, the backs shall buy the beer." - Doug Ibbotson0

It just seems to me that MSE is all about saving money or investing except the motoring forum"The Holy Writ of Gloucester Rugby Club demands: first, that the forwards shall win the ball; second, that the forwards shall keep the ball; and third, the backs shall buy the beer." - Doug Ibbotson0

Overseas Holiday Planning forum
or should we all live in cardboard boxes and not have holidays all in the spirit of money saving ?
Nothing wrong with people wanting to spend THEIR money on what they want - only they know what they can afford.
Or would you tell a multi-millionaire to forget the £100k motor In favour of a £200 banger.
If you don’t like the “direction” the forum has taken - you are free to save your time and electricity and not participate (sure there’s savings to be had there)2
