The more I read this forum I don't see how paying monthly for new cars is ever saving money. It's the lazy option, not MSE?????

There's a long thread about this somewhere, but it's horses for courses. Think of it as getting the best deal for paying for a car monthly rather than the cheapest way to run a car. For some its the less risky or most affordable option. In this instance the MSE way is more about how can you get the same car on the same deal for less money from company A than company B.4

Saving money is about the cheapest option not the cheapest bad deal"The Holy Writ of Gloucester Rugby Club demands: first, that the forwards shall win the ball; second, that the forwards shall keep the ball; and third, the backs shall buy the beer." - Doug Ibbotson2

The best deal is usually the one with the least amount of middle men"The Holy Writ of Gloucester Rugby Club demands: first, that the forwards shall win the ball; second, that the forwards shall keep the ball; and third, the backs shall buy the beer." - Doug Ibbotson0

PCP gives budgetting stability even if it's not the absolute cheapest. Some people would rather have a predictable £200/month car than a car that's £100 one month and £400 the next, especially those living pay day to pay day.

PCP is all about people that can't afford a 40 k car driving a 40k car."The Holy Writ of Gloucester Rugby Club demands: first, that the forwards shall win the ball; second, that the forwards shall keep the ball; and third, the backs shall buy the beer." - Doug Ibbotson4

As someone else has said, it's as close to 'fixed cost' motoring you can get, in that there should be no nasty surprise bills.
For people, like us, who rely on their cars for work, it's really critical we mitigate the risk of the car being off-road and a new car does that best.
I'm aware new cars aren't guaranteed fault free, but most of our recent new cars have basically only needed once a year visits for servicing.
And even that is a pain, truth be told.

Doesn't matter how you dress it up it's not saving money. Which is what this forum is about. PCP is a expensive way (& encourages you to drive a more expensive car than you can afford) to drive a car"The Holy Writ of Gloucester Rugby Club demands: first, that the forwards shall win the ball; second, that the forwards shall keep the ball; and third, the backs shall buy the beer." - Doug Ibbotson1

It's about 'money' in general, despite the word 'saving' in the title.
If it was purely about saving money, you wouldn't have the sub-forums on investments, because 'everyone should be skint on here and shouldn't have money to invest'

Investment is about saving money. PCP is definitely not saving money"The Holy Writ of Gloucester Rugby Club demands: first, that the forwards shall win the ball; second, that the forwards shall keep the ball; and third, the backs shall buy the beer." - Doug Ibbotson0
