Thank you all for your posts - and that's a great analogy @EssexHebridean 😃
One thing I forgot to mention is that I've signed up with a personal trainer for a bit as (a) I am now at the heaviest I have ever been, (b) both my knees are suffering, and (c) my lower back has not recovered from WFH. I am also the most inflexible person I know which is not good at my age!☹️ I had a session with him this morning purely to discuss diet. He has given me an initial daily calorie intake of 1800 per day and is very motivating. I am going to record my progress on My Fitness Pal and we'll discuss the results each week. I also had a taster session of the gym with him last week which was heartening as he is an older PT in his 50s, ex-fireman and understands where I'm coming from what with my age and bad knees. He is working out a programme which I begin with him on Thursday. It's very grey, drawn and chilly today in Seasideville - a lot of low lying mist over the estuary blocking out the other side. This afternoon I'm relaxing - catching up with some programmes I've recorded.I've just realised that I've been retired for a year and three days - and I wouldn't want to go back to work for anything!🤣

After I finished with him I did a bit of shopping - bought strawberries, potatoes, peanut butter, sesame seeds, vitamin sprays and a shoe horn! I'm going to work out my food plan and then place an order with Ocado as they've sent me a £20 voucher.
I've also add a Personal Trainer category to YNAB.Finally Debt Free! - July 2016 🌟

I have started with a PT this week in order to get my body stronger and fitter.
i am off on 2 big holidays Aug and Sept and decided I need to be fitter to get full enjoyment out of them
if we lived closer we could be gym bunny buddies 😂😂3 -
@Debsnewbudget - I think I would slow you down at the gym! I'm like an old crock at the moment!😀
I ended up watching 'Julia' (which is a joy) and, at the other end of the spectrum, an episode of 'Rob and Romesh's Versus' series (where I have never laughed so much since watching 'Clarkson's Farm!'). I then fell asleep.......😴Finally Debt Free! - July 2016 🌟

I can’t believe you’ve been retired a year. Where has the time gone! I hope it goes well with the PT 👍I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)3

Wow that year has passed quickly. It’s 22 months since I last worked but I think it was 8 months since my retirement actually came through. Like you I wouldn’t want to go back….although I do miss the people.January spends - £587.583

I know the time goes so quickly - it only really feels like six months in my head.😳
DD is currently on the Isle of Arran with her friend for a few days climbing and walking. She sent me some beautiful photos - a few on top of the misty mountain range, a swan swimming in the sea (I didn't realise they did that - I though they were fresh water birds), and a nice one of a heron.
MSE SCRIMPY THINGS UPDATE

Yes - the wildlife on Arran appears to be amazing @beanielou! DD went sea kayaking today and said there was a seal swimming alongside them and also a pod of dolphins!🦭🐬I had a less exciting time today in Seasideville - still cloudy and some heavy showers this afternoon.
I actually found some more clothes to declutter today - two lightweight raincoats - a Marisota pale pink and an Evans cerise, plus a M&S beige waterfall jacket that I've had for a few years. When I had my 'ruthless' clear-out recently I hummed and hawed over these and kept them against my best judgment although really they should have gone! Looking at them today I decided I won't be wearing them again - pale pink is not a colour I ever wear to be truthful ( I really can't remember why I bought it!) and I'm now not keen on the cerise one. I've also decided that I've done with waterfall style jackets - they're too fussy for me (did I ever really like them she ponders🤔). My style is getting more minimalist as the years pass. Anyway I can't remember the last time I wore any of them! So off to the dress agency they will go and see if they can generate some cash in the best MSE fashion!I also spoke to my ex-boss today and we've finally put a June date in the diary for my retirement lunch that he is treating me to!
And it was a NSD today!😃Finally Debt Free! - July 2016 🌟

Well done on the decluttering 👏👏👏 Might as well try to get something for them 👍
We were laughing when we went on a boat trip at Berwick last week as the waves were pretty high and the skipper kept saying he’d seen dolphins the previous day - bet he says that every trip 😂😂 we didn’t see any.January spends - £587.583
