Oh SSG I am sorry to hear you've had Covid - glad you're on the mend. Exciting stuff about the property move though - I can certainly see why there would be some trepidation there too mind - it is a scary thing!

Pleased to hear you have recovered from covid. Hope the cough disappears soon.
Good news on the flat. Fingers crossed it all goes smoothly as I’m sure it will for you. Is the new flat in the same area or are you moving further afield?

Well I've failed again with keeping up with my diary - must try harder Seasidegal!☹️

And after drum rolling my house move - well - I've now decided not to go through with it!  I had put the flat on the market and began to view two bed flats in my area and it soon occurred to me that there were advantages in staying where I am, I.e.:
    - My flat is basically right where I want it to be in my area. Ground floor, right on top of our little high street and walking distance to seafront, train station and the bus stops are near enough just outside my flat! And though I don't drive I have an allocated car space which is like gold dust around here and is always useful for visitors and tradesmen.

On viewing quite a few flats I did find there was always something not quite right - quite a walk from amenities ( I can do walks now but I'm thinking ahead to a few years later when I'm in my 70s), too big or not enough storage, no car space, etc.  I did see one that had potential re location, etc but would have cost a bit to do up as it had been a rental for years.

Plus once I had really decluttered my place ruthlessly begun to feel I didn't need so much storage as I thought and with some careful planning in the living room I should be able to fit a sofa bed for visitors.

I was really in a quandary about it - I had a weekend up north recently with DD and talked it over with her - she said if you're not absolutely sure then don't move and save yourself some money on stamp duty, etc. if you feel differently in a couple of years you can move then. So I decided to stay.  DSis said that she could never make out why I wanted to move in the first place as I'm getting older and my flat is ideal. 🤷‍♀️

So I'm staying but will use some of the funds I earmarked for any renovations on moving to doing up my flat.   I've a few ideas but I'll take my time about it all. First off I'd like to change the cupboard doors in my kitchen, get an integrated washer dryer and buy a new oven as my current one is crap!

Apart from the above other things that have happened - it was my birthday last week which was great as DD treated me to a lovely day out. Also I went out with DSis and friends to see Moulin Rouge which was absolutely fantastic and now up there with my all time fave musicals!😃

This weekend has been quiet as friends are away and I've not got anything in the diary this week so far apart from coffee with an ex-workmate on Friday.

I'm off up to Scotland at the end of this month with DSis and her family to stay with DD and her OH so that will be nice. 👍

Ive also updated YNAB today as it's the first of the month. I've changed a few savings categories now that I'm not moving - I'm going to look into investing the cash I had put away towards buying a more expensive property so will need to do some thinking on that.

Definitely the right decision if the certainty wasn’t there. Sometimes just thinking about shaking things up and making changes can be the thing that makes us realise that the changes that will make the real difference are smaller, less sweeping ones!

Glad all is well with you anyway!
