    1) Does it say 'unable to confirm' or does it say 'delivered'?

    2) Have you tried the reference number in the carriers website?

Unless it says delivered then the buyer will win the case for INR
    1) As per thread title. In fact to give it a full copy and paste it says:
"Sorry, we're currently unable to confirm the status of your item with reference AA123456789GB . Please try again tomorrow. "

    2) Yes, that's how I got the above. If i just went off the eBay site then it only says "dispatched" but nothing beyond that. No tick for in transit, no tick for out for delivery, no tick for estimated delivery.

Would you just not waste time with holding out for a conversation and go straight to opening a dispute?
As you are significantly past the delivery date, just open a case.  There is no detriment to the seller unless they fail to resolve, which is what you require.  The 'conversation' should be within the case.

Open the case, escalate when you can if there is no resolution.

Thanks. Will do. I just have little faith in the eBay system after recent experience with disputing but I guess I have no other choice really.

@custardy how would they have gotten a tracker ID?

More than likely they have generated a label but not actually posted.
Had this twice now with standard RM48 and they had certainly been posted.

Both updated a few days later to delivered.

Can only put it down to some kind of glitch or some kind of delay at the DO.

OP it won’t affect you winning a case with eBay for INR.

You do get some sellers who clearly do not have stock and generate labels just to pacify buyers.
Whenever this status does not update I have always has a "sorry must be lost" and a refund.
Whenever I have said "I want the item" it never happens.

As my full time job is in Logistics it always amuses me why people cannot just be honest instead of trying to play cover up games.

Not really. RM48 only updates en route if it goes through an automated parcel sorting centre.
Otherwise its next scan is delivery scan

When they generate the label they get the tracking ID.

I ask because my experience of this is physically walking to the Post Office, handing over the parcel, saying i want to send it via XYZ, getting the grumpy man to tell me to put it on the scales about 0.5 seconds before I'm about to put it on the scales anyway, him putting a label on it and chucking it in a bag and then handing me a receipt.

So it's been paid for and it's on its first step to being in the system. The paid for and sent is pretty much one & the same so there is no 'not sent'.

Should've kept tabs on this more closely but I just order and wait for things to turn up. I order a bit so when something that isn't majorly important (as in don't need it super instant) and doesn't turn up, i don't really notice too much as other things ARE turning up. Only when it's been a while and I come to need it and go looking for it do I then realise hang on, it's not turned up.

So now i've opened a case, the damn thing will update tomorrow saying delivered, yet it wont be and I'll lose out again.

@superbigal I deal with deliveries and the public and the lies I am forever hearing them be told is ridiculous. Cringeworthy. Maybe i'm too honest.
On a side note, are you Super Bi Gal or are you Super Big Al? :)

    I don't follow?

If it is delivered tomorrow, you will have it presumably?  Why will you lose out?

Not sure which bit of my post “not really” applies to?

Not when labels are generated and paid for online.  In theory they could give you the tracking number, then possibly claim a refund from Royal Mail for not using the label - I don't know what the message on track and trace would be if the label were voided and refunded though.  And this is just thinking about a private customer, manually doing the labels online, not a business with it integrated with their eBay transactions.
