Thanks everyone. I did wonder if I was putting up with some sort of cheap shoddy service and not recognising it. I'm glad to hear that others have had the same experience as me. A reasonable product at a great price. My wife has HL and Vanguard ISA's as well and I certainly don't seem them as having a particularly better interface or functionality.
I'm going to open another iWeb account in my wife's name this afternoon.

Again had them for years, no problems. Early on actually added some funds I inquired about. No frills, but there are plenty of free websites with more detail info if you want to investigate funds minutely. Saved a bomb on fees with them. Perhaps they don't pay their employees to put glowing reviews on Trustpilot like many do?

I like iWeb. I've had my ISA with them for last 3 years. I've had no trouble at all. They seem cheap and cheerful but suit my needs. Admittedly an App would be nice but not essential.
However I recently came across the Trustpilot reviews of iWeb and was quite surprised by how much of a kicking they got.
I need to open a new ISA for my wife. I had been planning to use iWeb. Having seen these reviews I am having second thoughts. The main issues appear to be poor customer service/ delays in answering phones/ delays in getting money paid out.
Has anyone on the forum experienced these problems? Any thoughts about potential issues with iWeb. I've been a happy customer.
So, with your positive experiences of iWeb, have you ever felt the need to go on Trustpilot and share these, to help balance all those kickings?  It's not exactly unusual for people to be more prone to spreading bad news....
Indeed, this is human innate negativity bias, an evolved trait left over from thousands of years looking out for predators and enemies! This is also how newspapers, and other media outlets, work.

Been with Iweb for years. As it says on the tin, no frills but the cost structure is very good (I opened before the introduced their new opening charges). Also, the fills I keep getting for UK shares/trusts orders are better than HL's. Their liquidity seems to be really good. The one thing that has caught my attention though - and this may not be relevant to the OP - is that they pay REIT distributions net of 20% basic rate tax. So one would have to claim it back when filing the tax return. But apart from that, very happy and not having an app can be useful, not being tempted to check too often.

Look at Hargreaves Landown's entry and you'll see "Pays to access extra Trustpilot features".  Look at IWeb's entry and you won't.
I'll leave you to guess what HL hope to get by paying Trustpilot.
FWIW, I've had accounts with IWeb for 10 years with a large sum in both mine and Mrs R's account and have yet to have a problem of any kind.  The range of investments is smaller than many but, though the website is simple, it's fast.  They also offer some features and services that others don't.
I've had accounts with HL since 2007 which, back then, had the best website and service around but they've long since been left behind.  The slow and cumbersome website hasn't been updated in all those years and the service is now the worst of any financial company I use. The vast majority of my investments are now with IWeb.

I also opened an iweb ISA this year.  It's been quite smooth, and I really like the minimalist interface.

I don't like the flashy cumbersome designs that most websites adopt these days.

Lets be honest, no one will post a review on trustpilot about anything unless they've had a bad experience

Been with iWeb about 10 years (?) Very happy with them, in the main. A few points however:

    1) CS has been poorer during pandemic. I used to use the online chat, but it now seems to phone-only.
    2) No two factor authentication
    3) Cannot access both mine and wife's account  from one login.
    4) SIPP handling is messy. It's actually run by AJ Bell behind iWeb front, which slows things. I recently crystallised a SIpp with them, and i think a novice would have been very confused with the outdated, irrelevant or incorrect forms and letters sent to me. Crystallisation and taking income seems a lot easier on other platforms.

Tl:Dr - cheap and good generally, but not for SIPPs if you are moving to drawdown.
