I am attaching floor plan of house I am buying. There are multiple storages at ground floor. Would it be feasible to merge all and create one large bathroom.? There is no scope to create wndow in bathroom. Would you suggest how ventilation be done if bathroom is feasible to create replacing storages?
I am also thinking g if I can build large porch that can be used for storage for hanging coats, jackets and can have shoes rack etc. How much would it cost to create bathroom and medium sized porch ? Please advise what you think thanks

Why do it that way? This seems a great way to answer a demand that no housebuyer will make.
How many times in a lifetime will two householders want to take baths simultaneously?
We have an understairs WC with a shower that takes a corner out of the kitchen.
Looks like you could do the same with less loss of space. There is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker0 -
Do you have a specific need for a second bathroom downstairs. I have never really understood having baths or showers downstairs if there are no bedrooms on that level.
Like the previous poster has said I would just got for a wc under the stairs.
but to put a full bathroom downstairs? Depends what spec - soil pipe will need to be connected so would also depend on logistics if that. I am sure someone will be along who has put in an extra bathroom to advise.0 -
I agree with those saying a downstairs loo probably makes more sense.
HOWEVER, in my parents house growing up they put a shower room in downstairs and the nighttime routine as children was someone would run a bath, once the bath was run they would get in and someone else would simultaneously have a shower so I guess it depends if the OP has kids/ how many people are going to be living in the house as well.
you could take a chunk of that extra L in the kitchen and make it into a bathroom quite easily I should think.1 -
Thanks , my main intention to have wc, shower , wash basin at ground floor. I may be ok for not to have full bath tub fitted there. Would that all fit in with replacement of storages? How costly is it? Is ventilation possible in wc? Would there be interconnconnected pipes available for water supply and drainage?0

Easy way (and best to my mind) would be to convert dining room to lounge, lounge and kitchen into kitchen diner and put the new loo and shower room underneath the existing upstairs bathroom.0

The main bathroom is directly above, so it's an ideal location. I'm quite certain that space
was the kitchen originally. The waste pipe will be nearby somewhere.Extractors are plenty good enough to cope without having a window. You buy a decent one that detects humidity and only turns off once it's extracted most of it. It's all internal
walls so you shouldn't have any condensation issues.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

I have lived in two flats in the past that didn’t have windows in the bathroom. It’s a bit odd not to have any natural light but I’ve never had any issue with mould. Both just had an extractor fan that came on with the light switch. It’s quite usual and there is no requirement for bathrooms to have windows.User4search said:Thanks , my main intention to have wc, shower , wash basin at ground floor. This house looks like it has plenty of storage I think, is there a loft as well? Depends how much stuff you have I guess.

Thanks all, yes it was kitchen originally . It is semi-detached house so wall is common in between my storage and their lounge. If I get extractors fixed in wall then would it not cause issue for next door neighbour as it might generate noise or could damage the wall while fixing extractors etc.Doozergirl said:The main bathroom is directly above, so it's an ideal location. How would I know where are those internal pipes and drainage in house? Will I get any document from owner ?

This is a space that's about a metre deep and maybe 4m long, with restricted head-height for much of that length due to being under the stairs.
It'd be a thoroughly poky cloakroom/loo/handbasin. A shower? For garden gnomes, perhaps.1
