If you can text, have you tried actually calling?
Having still received no acknowledgement of, or response to, emails and texts, tried phoning. Surprise, surprise, they did not pick up. I did wonder about the suggestions that either or both of the trustees could be incapacitated but a quick search online brought up their Facebook pages which have both been updated several times in the period my daughter has been trying to contact them so I don’t think that’s the issue!

Have you tried contacting them via FB?

If it goes on much longer I'd be tempted to "oust" them on their page, with a "why are you ignoring me?!!".   Or make contact with their friends with an "are they ok?" message.
How's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 2.60% of current retirement "pot" (as at end May 2025)

I think I would be considering a solicitors letter, this is all quite strange, rude if nothing else!

Do you know what they have done with the money?
No, the will stated that they could invest it as they saw fit. They have never disclosed where or how it was being held.
Hate to say this - but there could be no money left (easily done if they don't have a clue what they are doing)and they are just afraid/embarrassed to admit it
I'm afraid the longer this goes on the more inclined I am to think this is going to be correct. I don't know what you could do though, perhaps get some legal advice? Maybe they need a letter saying this is your next course of action if they do not respond with so many days.

My husband has spoken to a solicitor today. Just waiting to hear back. It seems so unfair that my son received his full inheritance without any issue and my daughter has to go through this - in the middle of her A level assessments at the end of what has been an extremely stressful year. My heart breaks for her.

Yes, I really feel for you all. I have a just turned 18yo daughter too as well as a son who would have been an adult in the time span you've mentioned. My daughter is wanting to do something expensive this year from September for a year (still educational but privately funded). I can imagine the despair if she was waiting for money to come her way only to start thinking it might not. I'm glad your husband has consulted a solicitor and hope there's a positive outcome.

If so,  and this was not a bare trust, the Trustees may have had to make tax returns and deal with other aspects of administration, took legal advice on this and are now awaiting final instructions from the solicitor?

With regard to tax returns and additional fees etc, is there any circumstance under which these would be deducted from my daughter’s share, meaning that she would receive less than my son did?

I’d like to think it’s been invested and she’s getting more tbh.

The Trustees would be entitled to pay fees relating to the administration of the Trust from Trust income or capital.
