Tesco is the Biggest Grocery Buisness in the UK, which is all good and well, however the Government and Tesco's have come to an arrangement whereas instead of the Government overlooking the Grocery market they had said to Tesco that they have total control on Pricing.
Therefore Tesco has Government authorisation to "Price Fix".
Tesco are indeed doing this to such a high degree that every other Supermarket chain has to price their products in line with Tesco's.
This has been the case for a number of years and Now Tesco is quite literally abusing their power and privileges.
Over the past 5 years, Tesco has doubled the price of all their products, and not only that but they have put less ingredients into every product, as an example 5 Jam Donuts are now 4 Jam Donuts and price increase from 58 pence to £1.
They have also doubled the amount of size on all Branded products, example 100grams of Nescafe Coffee is now 200grams of Nescafe coffee, Tesco has done this so they are able to "Price-Fix" without the consumer Noticing.
The only reason inflation is taking effect is not due to the Government it's due to Tesco ripping us all off.
Tesco does Not care about their customers, they only care about taking our money. Their profits are through the roof.
Tesco has a store In every single town in the country and therefore bully their way in and shut other smaller businesses down with no regard for any of them.
Tesco can not be held accountable for their actions because the government has allowed a Free-For-All to take place.
Us consumers need to Vote and I suggest we all Vote with our feet and stop going to Tesco stores, they are abusing their powers.
I just like to add, Tesco has done away with Self Service Cash payments on their in store machines so now you can only pay by card and not cash.

I give up, where's the scandal?

Shop gets to decide what price it sells goods at?  Shop gets to decide what size packets it wants to stock?
    If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.

If this is so, then why are Tesco drawing attention to the fact that they are offering certain products at the same price as Aldi?
If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales

If it was not for Tesco we would have starved in lockdown. They are the ONLY supermarket that delivers in this area.

So now I have to boycott Tesco as well as Sainsburys, ASDA, Lidl, Aldi, Iceland and Spar ... why? Because someone reads something on social media and then makes up a load of other stuff around it and then have a rant about it on another chatboard.  Not everybody is gullible enough to believe everything they read ... most of us are quite capable of our own research and ability to translate data and separate the facts from simplified rants.

As far as pack sizes go, this has been in the news now for many years - remember the great chocolate orange scandal or the toblerone missing triangles, or cans that used to be 454g now only containing 400g.  As the manufacturers made clear, the choice is to increase the price or reduce the volume to an amount that customers are willing to pay.  Maybe in the case of coffee they sold so few 100g jars that they weren't worth wasting valuable shelf space on.

As far as 'every other Supermarket chain pricing their products in line with Tesco's'  .. I would really like to hear Lidl and Aldi express an opinion on this since, it appears to me that everybody is trying to compete with them.

If you don't like Tesoo's then don't shop there - you show them, I am sure they will miss the millions you spend there every week.  But there is no way I am going to allow
ill informed half baked arguments from a poster on the web to influence my decisions about where I shop.

Maybe a bit more background as to what the vested interest is and which company that the OP works for is not interested in profits.  Alternatively I would suggest that people educate themselves about the most basic principles of economics and business before going off on one.

Surely after eating all the food in your home, then going without food for several days (or possibly weeks) you would have ventured out into the real world to visit a food shop?

We have just moved and now use Asda instead of Tesco. I find them much the same and simply cannot understand why we have over 50 strawberry jams on the shelves but cannot get things like fresh chicken liver or lambs kidneys which are in several popular recipies.
Plus the roll back is a con, Yeo Valley fruit yoghurt is on roll back at £1.25 where does that come from? It is £1 in Tesco with clubcard.
However overall the weekly bill is about the same in both supermarkets.

Only if you are lucky, the last, and only, pack we purchased had 1 missing, when we noticed my wife sad "You're not sending an email".

Bit cakey for my liking, Morrisons ones are nice though.
