That's in addition to probably having to pay more for your 2022 holiday than you did in 2020.If we decide to defer again to 2022, TUI will have had the benefit of the full amount of our holiday for 2 years.
The same Holiday I had booked is available for about £600 more next year. Not being able to see which Premium Seats are available until you have "paid" is annoying as well.
They need to adopt the same flexibility as BA - a small deposit upfront and nothing more payable till three weeks before departure not THREE MONTHS. Before the balance is paid you ought to be able to cancel with no penalty and get your deposit back in the form of a voucher.
In my case if I had booked with BA when the price was reduced I could have cancelled and rebooked at the lower price using my returned deposit voucher towards the balance.
Quite honestly I don't know why anyone is booking with TUI at the moment when far more flexible terms and conditions are available with other reputable operators.1 -
Butts said:What irked me about TUI was that prior to my option to cancel they had reduced the price by £500, probably purely academic as I doubt the USA will be open to tourists on May 17th but annoying all the same.

TUI cancelled our holiday, and said they would issue a refund, but asked that we accept an incentive of £1000 to rebook the holiday for the following year, so we thought we would keep the money within the company and get a holiday the following year so due to depart 29th May 2021...
now this isn’t viable ....
cyprus as it stands need proof of vaccine, we haven’t had it yet.We also need Covid tests at a cost of £750 to the group..... again not viable
also a quarantine period ..... again not viable...
TUI have said they are planning this holiday as normal so I have the following two options
on the £5300 holiday I either
accept a £200pp loss so £1200 in total.
or rebook for free BUT losing all the incentive which covered the increase from 2020 to 2021 but means I’d have to pay that and probably more to rebook in 2022
I literally don’t know where to turn. There customer service is atrocious just throws us off with standard rubbish.I wish I just took the refund at the time anyone have a clue how to get out. This situation, I either want a full refund or like for like holiday in May 2022
You need to consider a few things, will the Government give the Green light to go to Cyprus? Highly unlikely judging by the Covid figures being bandied around on here.
Will Cyprus change their Covid restrictions to suit the UK Govt,? probably not
How much will it cost you to pay for Covid tests getting in and out of the country?
Will you possibly have to self isolate on your return with all the palaver that entails.?
Also do you really want to be in extremely busy airports and close proximity to other people like yourself that haven’t had a vaccine yet?
If I was you, for your peace of mind, i would cancel, you only lose £200 as the other £1,000 was never really yours in the first place.
Good Luck with whichever you decide1 -
In fact the OP says he stands to lose £1200 in deposits so clearly it’s a booking for 6 people.0

For others in the same situation, I have filled out a contact us form on Tui multiple times and always get the same generic cut and paste reply...
I went on twitter on Friday and moaned @tuiuk they said they will try to help and asked me DM them the booking details.
Over a few days have had several replies from several different people probably depending who is working the twitter account that day, but long story short, they have now agreed to amend our booking to same hotel etc for free, from this August to August 2022.
Its actually £900 cheaper than we paid for this year, and they are processing a refund for us too....
Great result!!
We had no booking incentive to roll over or lose, but for us to not go and have no loss is perfect!!
Just hope things have calmed down fully by next summer now??0
