HSBC Advance £125 + £20 Uber Eats

I have just completed an application for an HSBC Advance account, but apart from the confirmation the account was open on the website I've not received a Welcome Email.

I would have expected that to arrive immediately, what are other's experiences?

I received my welcome pack by email the day after I completed the application.

I agree that the website suggests that the email will arrive immediately and, like you, I fretted a bit.

A confirmatory text arrived the same day as the email, followed by the debit card a day later.

I opened one last week (later at night). No emails came until 2 days later. Then got a text about card being sent. Finally, on day 4 I received the welcome pack email - the same day the card arrived.

The text says "Great news! Your HSBC account is open, your card and PIN are on their way. If you're new to HSBC, you'll also get a telephone banking security number. You can use this, along with your sort code and account number, to register for mobile and online banking."

If you've an existing login, login and you'll see the new advance account on day 3. :)

Thanks both for the replies, that's reassuring for me. The email address I used has bounced bank emails before, so I may change it when I can login.

I received the telephone banking security code in the post today and was able to register for online banking 7 working days after the welcome pack arrived.

8 working days and no telephone banking security code, I'll give it a bit longer. Think I've got everything else now.

I phoned them up yesterday after 8 days of waiting for the security code. Apparently it was never posted for me, so they set me up over the phone (alternative is to go into a branch with id).

The welcome email finally came out today.

Does anyone know if there will be any emails/texts/letters about switching accounts? I requested a switch as part of the application, but haven't received anything yet.

Took a long time to get through (there is a warning on the website), but just about managed to get it set up over the phone yesterday. The only email I got about switching was from my existing provider and I did get a letter 2 days ago from HSBC about switching.
I've now got to wait 5-10 working days for a card reader (you've got to type the specific serial number in to activate it, so no reusing any laying about; my new phone crashes when opening the app). If my employer has processed their letter to switch my salary it's likely I'll have an account with money in I can't access online due to these timescales.

Once again an example for why you should not request a switch before you haven‘t got full, unrestricted access to the account you want to switch to. Unfortunately, even some banks and outfits who get referral fees are upholding the myth that the opening of a new account and the switch to it are a single process which can all be completed within 7 working days.

In the case of HSBC, if you are unable to access your account online, you will be reduced to having to go to a Branch until you can.

Switch day today for me. As I had a payee setup to my main current account on my donor/switching account, it carried across to payees on HSBC telephone banking and I've made a payment. Bit lucky!

This might be a really dumb question, but how does one initiate the switch after the account is opened? I opened the account on Friday (two days ahead of the deadline) but needed to make sure my old account had enough direct debits to qualify for the incentive.  All ready to go now, and my new account has appeared in my HSBC app, but I can't for the life of me figure out how to start the switch. I've clicked around in the app, online banking,  and the website. I've also asked the livechat but they keep directing me to the link to check my eligibility and open a new account.
