I asked on Twitter specifically about V3 caps and this is the reply I received: "the caps for Tracker V3 haven’t changed - the way the Energy Price Guarantee is applied will mean any daily rate that exceeds 34p will get a max reduction of 17p and the equivalent for gas".
I think I know what it means, but not 100%. If the cap is still 40p for electricity, why not just say so?
As we know from other Twitter responses from Octopus, they are often inconsistent or downright wrong.

So unfortunately confirmed on Twitter by Octopus has little worth!

Ive asked Octopus to clarify things for me on Tracker, as my Agile email was definitely electric only, it doesnt quote Gas unit prices or anything, and cannot see whats applied as gas is always below the cap now lol.

I can say my Agile cap is 33.02p (peak evening flat lines at 33.02p) not 34p from todays rates.  So they are doing regional variances.

Thanks - that's what I thought, but started to doubt myself with the references to 52p and 78p in the email (the latter being the same as the cap for August 2022 v1).

Tomorrow's electricity UR up significantly from today, but still comfortably below EPG - for me, 29.67p/kWh.

For me the email was clear enough.

The existing caps remain in place for the Agile you on, and the email carefully uses the 'if' word for when it quotes the higher cap rates only if you on the later Agile product.

So 78p drops to approx 60-61p.  55p drops to approx 37-38p. 35p drops to approx 33-34p.

SC unaffected so 35p agile keeps 21p daily rate.

So, still confusing then, is 34p the max or 40p for v3?
34p maximum, keep product cap as well as now get EPG cap

    Can you clarify this?
If the maximum is 34p, then the product cap would be irrelevant (as higher).

Unless you think the product cap is applied first, so the dynamic unit rate never goes above it? That sounds like double capping!

Parts of email that you highlighted appears to be from standard email they would have sent out to standard fixed rate customers with a few word changes.

Retaining product cap is relevant as without it unit rate could be as an example 70p -17p = 53p

Yes double capping, product cap should be applied first as for purpose of EPG that forms basis of calculations. otherwise no point retaining product cap, reply i quoted stated two caps

They have changed/updated billing system which should have enabled them to change product caps on existing versions assuming they are discounting that way for purpose of EPG

"been a Herculean effort to digest brand new policy, reprice 100s of products, build entirely new billing tech & tell ~3 million customers what it means for them in 15ish days - still a few to go, but nearly there"
  • This thread, despite its title seems all about Agile rather than Tracker?

Was anyone else about the confirm if EPG discounts will be subtracted from Tracker caps for a new reduced cap?
