I don’t see what the issue is.
you can book a second appt at a vaccination center with many weeks notice if you want.
this is a very important appointment.

whats the issue with making time up?
seems perfectly reasonable and even flexible to me for what is dependent care.

if it’s awkward at short notice then why not book online ahead.
mine is offering it to me 5 weeks ahead at the moment (at the 11 week point).
That’s good for you, but it’s not the case for everyone.
In this area only people who’ve had AstraZeneca can book their second jab in advance.  Everyone who has had Pfizer has to wait until they get a text, usually just after 10 weeks since their first jab.

At the moment I’m having to take my elderly mother to the hospital 3 days a week for chemotherapy treatment. There’s no-one else who can take her so I’m really hoping I get a choice of date/time for my second jab otherwise there’s a possibility that I won’t be able to make it if it clashes with Mum’s appointments.
I can see that you have competing priorities here. If you aren’t fully protected from covid, you catching the virus and having to isolate won’t help your Mum. I assume your Mum has had both her vaccines, but the chemo may compromise her immunity system which is another reason to ensure you are fully protected.

I would drop an email to your surgery explaining the situation, they may bring your second forward in the circumstances. When you do get called to book your second, even if there is no flexibility on the date, there should be flexibility on the time.
I wish your Mum well, I. Hope her treatment is successful.

I had my 1st jab (AZ) on the 10th April.  I got the phone call to let me know on the 8th at 5.45pm.  Not a problem.  My hubby had his 1st one on the 28th Feb (pfziser), so his 12 week mark is the 23rd May. I think his call was quite short notice as well, but not a problem.

Both of ours were done at our doctors surgery and have been told to wait to get a call to go for our 2nd one.

If you and your mother are registered under the same GP practice, ring them when get appt for 2nd dose and if not suitable, explain that could you be considered for another convenient time. If different practices, please ring and explain too.

That happened with mum's friend. Her mother is receiving radiotherapy for 5 weeks. She was given an appt the following day 2 hours before she needed to take her mum for her daily session

I had AZ from GP, and they didn't give 2nd dates. I've been invited for my 2nd jab tomorrow, exactly 7 weeks after my first.
I was called a few days before my jab.
When I was getting my first jab,I was told they didn't know how many jabs they were getting until the week before and so and so only could offer apps once they knew how many doses they were getting.
