2nd vaccine date given little notice

I’m due to have my 2nd dose in mid May, had 1st in end Feb. My GP practice is texting patients to attend to their 2nd vaccine 20-30 hours notice! Based on customers and colleagues’ parents who are registered!

Is this normal?
Also most of those who mentioned this to me said that they all had dates which were a different day of the week than the first. Whereas those with two dates both fall on the same day and more/less same time 

Hopefully the practice will give better notice for those groups that are of working age group.

    Completely normal, my surgery at least give little warning as they only want appointments turning up not those whose heard it on the grapevine and hope to catch a spare dose. 

     Its a medical appointment you can have the time to attend.

    Here we have all been given the appointment for the second injection when we attended for the first. They are made for 11 weeks later, and the same day and time as the first. Works well for us.

    Assuming England?

    2 systems working in parallel. Appointments booked on the online system mean you are given both appointments at the same time, so lots of notice for the second vaccine.

    for those that have their vaccines through their GP, the surgeries don’t know until a few days before exactly when they will receive stock, so can’t book appointments until they have stock confirmed.

    as I’ve said before, for those who had Astra Zeneca as a first dose, you have the option to book your second online at a mass vac centre/ pharmacy online.

    One of my colleagues had to make time up after taking her mother to the vaccine centre. Got text 10am for vaccine 2pm the following day  Colleague’s mother is wheelchair bound and hates anyone else taking her bar her family. Colleague had to make up time. As we get paid for our own vaccines, not for others

    Do you have similar problems to your colleague about short notice appointments and taking a less-mobile person to an appointment?

    Your practice can only book your appointment when it has a guaranteed delivery booked in of the vaccine. This can be at short notice, so I’m afraid it is a case of waiting until you are called. That said a lot of surgeries now text you a link to book yourself in, so you should be able to choose a time, if not a date.

    Appreciate that the logistics behind the whole vaccine programme is massive, some individual flexibility is called for. I’m sure employers would rather a vaccinated workforce, than be difficult about allowing people to keep their appointments.

    Husband had message last night from GP to book his 2nd dose , had a choice of dates he chose next Thursday
    Our vaccine hub have days for Pfizer ( which is his ) and days for AZ which is mine , we dont have fixed days it depends on availability of vaccine . I am expecting my text today . our 2nd doses will be just under 10 weeks apart . 
    My husbands appointment is at 5.30 pm , our clinics can run to 6pm and are normally open on Saturdays ( thats the day I volunteer ) we often open Sundays as well 
    As an employer we dont deduct pay for vaccine appointment if their appointment time is in work hours , we would even drive them there if they needed a lift

    My OH who was eligible got less than 48 hours notice of his jab (although he was offered appointments across 2 days) , I was not in the eligible group but got an offer less than 24 hours before I got my jab. We are coming up to 11 weeks now since that first jab and don’t yet have a 2nd jab booked, so assuming they are sticking to 12 weeks or less our second is going to be with virtually no notice at all.
