Turn it off once a month for a dayEmily_Joy said:Eventually we were connected on Wednesday. We enjoyed not having internet connection at home for a few days giving us an opportunity to read more, to talk more, and spend more time together as a family

I have had my worst ever transfer when moving to Plusnet this week. Old contract ceased on Thursday. Plusnet enabled my phone service that day but not my broadband. The proposed date was Friday. I too was told not to connect until I received a text. Text never arrived so I connected my new router late on Friday to find I had a service. They had sent me an email at about 01:00am but no text. Leave your router on for about 2 weeks is my advice to let things settle down.
You can use your old PO router if you want. It allows you to change your login details.Learn from yesterday, live for today, hope for tomorrow. The important thing is not to stop questioning. Albert Einstein0 -

I think the contract with PO said somewhere that we need to return the router. I was just about to drop them a line asking whether they want it back.

Well they haven't asked for mine back yet or supplied a returns label.Emily_Joy said:You can use your old PO router if you want. It allows you to change your login details.

PO customer services replied to the email in a rather amusing way - they seem to be asking for a lot of information to verify the identity and claim that they cannot discuss the router return process with a third party.HonestJohn said:

Sounds like data protection or GDPR gone mad. I always send a router back when asked. I can't find any thing on their website about returns so will keep it. It is useful as a backup.Emily_Joy said:
